The five dishes three of us ordered at Phodam

There were three of us, and we went all out ordering beef brisket pho, bun cha Saigon, handmade cha gio, fresh spring rolls, and handmade banh xeo!

After we ordered, the Vietnamese staff greeted us with warm, friendly smiles the whole time, which put me in a great mood before we'd even eaten.

When the dishes landed on the table, each one was piled bowl-full to the brim—almost unbelievable for prices hovering around ₩10,000 💡

Beef brisket pho, 8,900 won

The first thing we tried, beef brisket pho, had a broth deeply simmered from Korean beef bones—one sip and its deep, refreshing umami warmed us right up.

Tender brisket and pork belly toppings, crisp bean sprouts, and chewy rice noodles came together to show the real deal, straight from the source!

Bun cha Saigon, 9,900 won

Next up, bun cha Saigon was incredibly appealing—charcoal-grilled pork with a smoky char, tender 1mm-thin rice noodles, and fresh vegetables all in harmony. Dipping the noodles and meat in the tangy-sweet house-made nuoc mam sauce burst with brightness and savoriness in every bite, perfect for reviving a summer appetite!

Handmade Phodam cha gio (fried spring rolls), 6,900 won

The freshly fried handmade cha gio had a thin wrapper that shattered crisply on the outside, while the inside stayed moist with juicy meat and vegetables—a textbook crispy-outside, juicy-inside spring roll.

Phodam fresh rice-paper wraps, 6,900 won

The fresh spring rolls, tightly and neatly rolled in rice paper with vegetables, shrimp, meat, and noodles, exploded with freshness and varied texture with every bite. Dipped in the house sauce, they were crisp, light, and full of healthy flavor—so good we never got tired of them!

Fully handmade Phodam banh xeo, 9,900 won

Last but the one we were most excited about, the handmade banh xeo was a standout, faithfully recreating the authentic style right here in Jeonju! Inside the golden, crispy rice-flour pancake was a generous filling of savory meat, shrimp, and bean sprouts, and wrapping it in the provided rice paper and lettuce made for a fun eating experience.

The crunchy, savory pancake crust, crisp bean sprouts, and umami-rich seasoning came together so well that the three of us were stuffed but couldn't put our chopsticks down!
