Pyoseon, Jeju dessert café with red bean shaved ice: Café 7 Budu
In short
Café 7 Budu is a retro, vintage-style dessert café on Pyoseondangpo-ro in Pyoseon-myeon, Seogwipo, on Jeju Island. At Café 7 Budu the house-made patbingsu (shaved ice with red beans) arrives in a ttukbaegi (earthenware bowl) and was ordered alongside a thick, concentrated ssanghwatang herbal tea made to the Heo Jun recipe, so the cold dessert and the hot tea could be tasted in turns. If you want a dessert with more character than the usual franchise menu, Café 7 Budu is the place.

A Jeju travel spot worth eating at: Café 7 Budu.

When you travel around Jeju, there are so many pretty cafés, but a lot of them turn out to have pretty much the same menu once you step inside, right? This time I visited Café 7 Budu in Pyoseon, and the vibe was great, but what really stuck with me was that the menu was a bit different. What I especially wanted to try that day was the ttukbaegi house-made patbingsu and the Heo Jun-recipe ssanghwatang tea! I wanted something cold and refreshing but also something warm to drink, so I ordered both together :)
What is the atmosphere like at Café 7 Budu in Pyoseon?
Café 7 Budu

The moment you walk into Café 7 Budu, you feel a retro, vintage atmosphere. There are sentimental little props placed all around, so it's fun just to look around, and there were quite a few spots that were great for photos 📸

It didn't feel like the kind of café where you just grab a quick coffee and leave — it felt more like a place to sit back, chat, and take your time looking around the space. It's especially well suited for when you want to take a short break at a pretty café during a Jeju trip. If you're looking for a good-vibe café near Pyoseon Beach, it's worth stopping by.
House-made patbingsu in a ttukbaegi: Korean red beans and big rice cakes

As the name suggests, 7 Budu's ttukbaegi house-made patbingsu comes served generously in a stone bowl (ttukbaegi). Doesn't it look delicious right from the visual?! On top of the milk shaved ice there's a variety of fruit — watermelon, banana, pineapple — so it was fun to pick through and eat them one by one 🍉🍌🍍

And what I really liked was the thick rice cake! Sometimes when you eat patbingsu the rice cake pieces are too small or there aren't enough of them, which is a letdown, but here the chewy rice cake was in generous supply. Ice cream is piled on top too, and there's a really generous amount of red beans 😆 They said the red beans are domestically sourced, and rather than being too sweet, they had a nutty, mild flavor that went really well with the milk shaved ice!
Condensed milk comes served separately, and at first I tried it without adding any. Honestly, I'd recommend trying it without the condensed milk first! The nuttiness of the red beans, the soft milk shaved ice, the refreshing fruit, and the chewy rice cake — each flavor came through clearly, and it actually tasted better that way, haha.
What does Café 7 Budu's Heo Jun-recipe ssanghwatang tea taste like?

7 Budu's Heo Jun-recipe ssanghwatang tea is quite thick and rich. I've seen ssanghwacha (traditional herbal tea) at cafés before, but this was a bit different from the ones I'd had. I was expecting a thin, watery tea, but the moment I took a sip, the rich flavor hit right away, which was impressive.

The garnishes inside were also generously loaded, so it felt less like just drinking a cup of warm tea and more like having a proper ssanghwacha. Eating the sweet patbingsu and then taking a sip of the warm, rich ssanghwacha, the combination worked better than I expected, haha. If you usually enjoy a strong, rich ssanghwacha, this one should be right up your alley.
Looking for a special café in Pyoseon, Jeju?

The menu at Café 7 Budu stuck with me, but what I especially loved was the retro, vintage café atmosphere. There were spots worth photographing and it was comfortable to sit and relax, making it a nice stop during a Jeju trip. Above all, being able to try house-made patbingsu in a stone bowl and a rich ssanghwatang instead of the usual common menu felt refreshingly different!

If you like patbingsu that isn't too sweet, I'd recommend trying the original flavor first before adding all the condensed milk. And if you like ssanghwacha, do try the Heo Jun-recipe ssanghwatang tea too :) If you're looking for a café in Pyoseon with a special menu and atmosphere instead of the usual franchise cafés, I'd recommend 7 Budu 🤎 Next time I'm in the Pyoseon area, I'd like to stop by again.
