Whole dry-aged black pork and baby playroom seats in Jungmun: Oreumak

In short

Oreumak Garden Jungmun Main Branch is a dry-aged black pork grill restaurant in Jungmun, Seogwipo, Jeju. On the last evening of a family trip to Jeju, the order was a whole dry-aged black pork set and two servings of black pork belly, plus doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), steamed egg, kimchi jjigae and mul naengmyeon (cold buckwheat noodles), and staff moved the table to the front of the baby playroom so the meal could go slowly. Thick-cut black pork bone ribeye, pork neck and pork jowl arrived with neat side dishes, making Oreumak Garden a satisfying family dinner with a baby along.

Last dinner of a Jeju family trip: Oreumak Garden in Jungmun

We had our last dinner of the Jeju family trip at Oreumak Garden, a black pork restaurant in Jungmun. We'd already had black pork on the first night, so we decided to bookend the trip with black pork again on the last night. Jeju was already winding down for us. The owner or maybe a staff member was so kind that it stuck with me even more.

Being in Jungmun means it's very easy to get to. There are plenty of black pork restaurants in the area too, but this one is covered in Blue Ribbon and Red Ribbon marks and holds an Exemplary Restaurant certification, so you know you can trust it.

Arriving at 5pm, when most diners were Jeju locals

We got there around 5pm, still early for dinner, so there was no one around at first — but the seats filled up fast. What struck me was that most of the diners weren't travelers like us but real Jeju locals coming to eat. That told me this isn't just a tourist spot — it's a genuine black pork restaurant in Jungmun, a real local favorite.

Ordering the whole dry-aged black pork set and pork belly for two

At Oreumak Garden we ordered a lot — the whole dry-aged course, two servings of black pork belly, plus rice dishes and naengmyeon (cold noodles) on top >< . Have you heard of dry-aging? I only vaguely knew it meant "aged meat, must be fancier somehow," but apparently the dry-aging process adds more flavor to the meat and makes the texture softer, so it's easier to digest too.

This isn't just any black pork — it's black pork that's gone through several careful steps like this.

I took a photo of this because it was sitting right there on one side of the restaurant. Come on up to our table now!

Open kitchen at Oreumak Garden

That's kind of an open kitchen, right? And look how generous the side dishes are below.

Side dishes including sliced lettuce salad at Oreumak Garden

Side dishes, shrimp and whole garlic in butter

From the sliced lettuce salad onward, the side dishes were neat and clean. A lot of restaurants have side dishes you don't even bother touching, but here even the lettuce wraps were fresh, everything clearly made in-house, and great to eat alongside the meat. Honestly, just the doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) or kimchi jjigae alone with these side dishes would be a full meal.

Shrimp and whole garlic butter on the grill

Wait, they put shrimp on the grill?? I'm a total shrimp and crab addict… With whole garlic and butter alongside it, even one bite of shrimp was packed with flavor.

Black pork bone ribeye, pork neck and pork jowl filling the grill

The dry-aged whole course and the black pork belly came out. Black bone ribeye, black pork neck, and pork jowl, all together. But seriously, look at that bone ribeye. It's the kind of thing you'd see some cartoon character gnawing on with one hand, haha.

Grill loaded with black bone ribeye and black pork neck

Wow, the grill was completely packed… and it browned up beautifully. The cuts were so thick I wondered when they'd ever cook through, but you just eat whichever part finishes first, and the owner cuts everything up nicely so it's easy to cook and eat.

Black pork in Jeju with a baby: the table by the playroom

Oreumak Garden has a baby playroom. Going to a BBQ place with a baby is never easy. But here they have a playroom, and they actually moved our table over to the front of it on purpose. Thanks to that, we could eat comfortably and slowly.

Steamed egg and doenjang jjigae table setting

Steamed egg and doenjang jjigae. We also ordered kimchi jjigae later as our rice dish, and honestly all of it was delicious. We completely overate that evening, hehe.

How could you possibly hold back? You're traveling, so it's fine to eat as much as you want — it's Jeju after all~ It's making my mouth water all over again… turns out I love pork belly more than jeyuk bokkeum or bulgogi.

It was really different from regular pork belly. If you're visiting Jungmun, make sure to try this black pork restaurant.

Room for family gatherings and larger groups at Oreumak Garden

It's not a cramped, chaotic restaurant, so it's plenty spacious for bringing parents and a baby along for a family gathering or a group meal. And most of all, the meat is so good that it never feels like a waste of money — a genuinely satisfying meal.

Ah,,, the kimchi jjigae was insane. Even full, you keep going back for another spoonful.

Refreshing mul naengmyeon eaten at the end of the meal

We finished off nicely with a refreshing mul naengmyeon too, haha. Definitely make a trip to Oreumak Garden, the black pork restaurant in Jungmun 🧡
