Seogwipo café with Sora's Castle views: Forest Jeongbang

This is my honest review of Forest Jeongbang, a café I visited after having a blast exploring Jeongbang Waterfall, one of Seogwipo's signature sights — I heard there was a café nearby with a really stunning ocean view.

When you're traveling around Jeju, after checking out a famous spot you inevitably start looking for a café nearby to quench your thirst or just relax, right?

When I actually got there, the accessibility was fantastic — close enough to walk from Jeongbang Waterfall — and I got to enjoy high-quality coffee and dessert along with a wide-open sea view, which left me really satisfied. For anyone looking for an ocean-view café near Jeongbang Waterfall, here's a detailed review of my visit.

Where is Forest Jeongbang, and what are its hours?

Forest Jeongbang is located on Chilsimni-ro in Seogwipo, Jeju, so it connects perfectly with a route through famous Seogwipo attractions like Jeongbang Waterfall and Sora's Castle. It's open daily from 10:00 to 18:30, with last order at 18:00.

We walked over after finishing up at Jeongbang Waterfall, and it really is close enough to walk there without any hassle, so you don't need to move your car separately — that was genuinely convenient.

It's the kind of location that's perfect for a light, stroll-like visit.

There's also decent parking space right in front of and around the store, so if you're driving, you can park comfortably without worrying about it and just walk in.

How big is Forest Jeongbang inside, and does every seat have an ocean view?

Forest Jeongbang is made up of two connected buildings using both the 1st and 2nd floors, so it felt very spacious and pleasant. Almost every seat has an ocean view, so wherever you sat, you could see the Seogwipo sea.

The moment I stepped inside, the wide-open sense of space greeted me first. Overall the store is spacious and pleasant, and the seats are spaced generously, so it was the kind of atmosphere where you could relax quietly without worrying about other customers.

But what impressed me the most was the view. Almost every seat is an ocean view, so wherever you sat, you could take in the wide-open Seogwipo sea.

Looking out the window, you could clearly see Sora's Castle, famous as a piece of Jeju's architectural heritage, and the atmosphere was really something. We'd visited Sora's Castle too on our Jeongbang Waterfall trip, so seeing it from the café made it even more welcome.

True to an ocean-view café, there were big, comfy cushioned chairs facing the window, and just zoning out there was so nice.

Personally, I don't tend to go to cafés without comfortable seating, but at Forest Jeongbang most of the chairs were sofa-style with insane cushioning, so it was really great to sit and relax.

There's another café-like area on the 1st floor that's a real sunlight spot — a warm, cozy café perfect for lazily basking in the sun while sipping your drink.

With the pretty view plus a quiet, relaxed space, it felt like a proper moment of healing in the middle of our itinerary.

Forest Jeongbang menu and prices

Forest Jeongbang's signature items are the Jeongbang Waterfall Latte at ₩7,500 and the Udo Peanut Latte at ₩7,500, plus the Jeju Seasonal Fruit Rice Cake at ₩8,500. The Americano is ₩5,500, and the Jeju Hallabong Ade is ₩7,000.

The owner greeted us with a bright smile from the moment we walked in and guided us kindly, which was nice. True to the café's name, they had a wide variety of signature drinks packed with Jeju flavors and handmade desserts. Ordering is easily done at the kiosk or counter. The dessert lineup was diverse too, from healthy rice-based cakes to tarts and baked snacks, so it was fun picking whatever suited our taste.

The signature menu items are as follows,

• Udo Peanut Latte: ₩7,500 (latte with nutty Udo peanut cream)

We tried the two signature drinks — the Jeongbang Waterfall Latte and the Udo Peanut Latte — plus the Jeju Seasonal Fruit Rice Cake for dessert.

Udo Peanut Latte vs Jeongbang Waterfall Latte: which cream latte won?

Comparing the two, the Udo Peanut Latte was more to my taste, while my husband's Jeongbang Waterfall Latte had a great combo of nutty pistachio and bitter espresso. Both had densely piled cream, and the cream itself was delicious.

The first thing I tried was the Udo Peanut Latte. I honestly don't usually love the chalky heaviness or overly nutty flavor peanuts can have.

But here, the peanut flavor and aroma weren't overpowering and blended well with the rich latte base. I ordered nervously worried it would flop, but it worked out great, phew.

Every coffee I'd had since day one of this Jeju trip had been disappointing, so I was so happy to finally have a genuinely good coffee in Jeju that day.

Next I tried the café's signature Jeongbang Waterfall Latte, which is what my husband ordered,

This drink is a latte with a pistachio base, and the gentle nutty pistachio combined with bitter espresso worked really well — a golden pairing.

But wow, they really pile on the cream, don't they? Places that stack the cream generously always seem to nail that nutty, smooth flavor, and the cream on top was totally my type. Between the two, the peanut latte was more my favorite.

Basically the owner piles the cream on really dense and chewy, so the cream's own taste and texture were genuinely excellent. Eating a spoonful of cream first before sipping the drink filled my mouth with happiness.

I also tend to drink cream lattes without a straw, and the owner kindly recommended drinking it that way too.

You know drinking a cream latte without a straw is the unwritten rule, right? Try it just like that.

Jeju seasonal fruit rice cake: the hallabong version on this visit

The Jeju Seasonal Fruit Rice Cake we ordered together came with — persimmon? hallabong (a Jeju citrus fruit)? — on the day we visited. Since the sheet is made from rice, the texture was moist and soft.

You could bite into fresh hallabong flesh between the layers, and it wasn't that artificially-sweet franchise-café taste — not too sweet, with just the right natural tart-sweetness of real fruit.

Is Forest Jeongbang worth a visit in Seogwipo?

Forest Jeongbang was easy to reach on foot right near Jeongbang Waterfall, and with the wide-open ocean view plus Sora's Castle visible in full, it was a treat for both the eyes and the mouth at once.

The owner was kind, and the spacious layout was ideal for enjoying a quiet, relaxed moment. The cream quality on the drinks was chewy and delicious, and the dessert lineup was varied, so I'm planning to visit again next time I'm in Seogwipo. If you're looking for a pretty ocean view and good coffee near Jeongbang Waterfall, definitely stop by! I saw they had raw chocolate too... it's a shame I didn't get to try that. It looked so good...
