Black pork restaurant by Seogwipo Cruise Terminal: Jeju Healing Dwaeji

In short

Jeju Healing Dwaeji is a Jeju black pork restaurant on Maljil-ro in Gangjeong-dong, Seogwipo, where outdoor tables look out over the sea and a grassy lawn. The order was black pork 6.5 geun, three bowls of rice, one Hallasan soju and one Zero Coke, and the staff pre-grilled the thick-cut pork before serving it with four kinds of salt. Dinner with a baby along was easy here, and the open-air setting at Jeju Healing Dwaeji stayed with us even more than the pork itself.

What kind of restaurant is Jeju Healing Dwaeji?

Jeju Healing Dwaeji is a Jeju black pork (heukdwaeji) restaurant at 322 Maljil-ro, 1st floor, Seogwipo-si, Jeju. Trying black pork was a must on this Jeju trip, so I made my way to Jeju Healing Dwaeji in Seogwipo.

The vibe here is a bit different from a typical Korean BBQ spot — you can grill your meat at an outdoor table with the sea, a sunset, and a lawn all around you. Total healing.

Where is it and can you park? A 5-minute walk from the cruise terminal

Located in Gangjeong-dong, Seogwipo, Jeju Healing Dwaeji is a black pork specialist just a 5-minute walk from Seogwipo Cruise Terminal. We drove from Jeju City and it took about 50 minutes. If you're touring Jeju by car like us, parking matters — luckily there's a parking lot right next to the restaurant.

Inside Jeju Healing Dwaeji: mood and indoor seats

Stepping inside Jeju Healing Dwaeji, it was bigger than I expected. Up front there are autographs from celebrities — clearly plenty of famous faces have passed through.

There are also plenty of tables inside in a comfortable atmosphere, so if the outdoor tables are full or the weather turns cold, you can still eat indoors.

What we ordered at Jeju Healing Dwaeji and what it cost

Jeju Healing Dwaeji says it uses only authentic Jeju black pork raised on the island. Here's what we ordered:

  • Black pork 6.5 geun (about 975g)
  • 3 bowls of rice
  • 1 Hallasan soju
  • 1 Zero Coke

Do you need a reservation for the outdoor tables?

We had a reservation and were shown straight to an outdoor table, which I personally loved. Most Korean BBQ places make you picture sitting indoors in front of a grill, but at Jeju Healing Dwaeji you eat while looking at the scenery outside, which really made it feel like a proper Jeju trip.

Four kinds of salt and the side dishes served with the black pork

Once we ordered the meat, the side dishes arrived. There were four kinds of salt to enjoy with the pork — organic green tea salt, prickly pear (baengnyeoncho) salt, garlic salt, and pepper salt. Alongside those came olives, jalapeños, wasabi mayo sauce, spicy radish salad (muchae), onion, white kimchi (baekkimchi), lettuce wraps, pickled cabbage, and pickled yeolmu (young radish greens) — a solid lineup for eating with meat. They also said the side dishes and sauces served with the pork are made in-house using local Jeju ingredients.

Black pork 6.5 geun, pre-grilled by the staff

We ordered one geun (about 150g) times 6.5 of the meat, and staff showed it to us and explained it before taking it away to pre-grill. The meat was really thick and fresh-looking — I appreciated that attention to detail.

After showing us the raw meat, they took it away, pre-grilled it, and brought it back. Instead of putting raw meat on the grill and waiting for it to cook from scratch, it comes out partly cooked already, so finishing it off at the table is quick and easy.

Once the pre-grilled meat hit the pan, it started sizzling and the smell of grilling meat rose up — honestly, meat always tastes best starting from that smell 🍖🥩

Eating out with a baby: cooking the pork all the way through

Since we were eating with our baby, we decided to cook it fully. The cuts were on the thicker side, so we browned the outside and made sure the inside was well cooked too.

Our baby ate about half a portion, I think 😬 We fed her ourselves since there were side dishes around and we were worried about the grill. She's picky about meat but she really went for the black pork.

How does the black pork at Jeju Healing Dwaeji taste?

Look how nicely it browned. There was no gamey smell at all, and it came out crisp on the outside, tender inside.

We tried dipping the meat in each of the four salts one by one. Every single one was delicious 🤤

Thick-cut meat can easily turn dry and tough if you overcook it, but this stayed soft and was genuinely delicious. The outside had that nutty, grilled flavor while the inside stayed tender, so I kept reaching for more. Personally, dipping it in the wasabi mayo was my favorite.

A family dinner with the sea in front of you

Ordering 6.5 geun gave us a generous amount, plenty for the whole family. We grilled slowly, chatted, and took in the ocean view — it made for a relaxed, unhurried meal.

Eating black pork with a view like this — isn't that just pure bliss..? ‧⁺◟( ᵒ̴̶̷̥́ ·̫ ᵒ̴̶̷̣̥̀ )

Who will like Jeju Healing Dwaeji in Seogwipo?

If you're looking for a good Seogwipo samgyeopsal spot or somewhere to eat black pork in Jeju, I'd recommend Jeju Healing Dwaeji 🍖🥩 The taste of the meat was great, but honestly what stuck with me most was being able to eat at an outdoor table. If you want to enjoy the outdoor atmosphere along with your meat, Jeju Healing Dwaeji should suit you well 💚
