This weekend I had a long-overdue lunch date with some Japanese friends near Gangnam Station. After eating, we were looking for somewhere to talk, and that's when we ended up at Something About Coffee, a place I'd been curious about for a while.

The space was definitely bigger than I expected, and the seats had plenty of room, so it was great for chatting comfortably with friends~

Something About Coffee sits between Gangnam Station and Sinnonhyeon Station, so it was easy to get to. What struck me most as soon as I walked in was how much bigger it felt than I'd expected. Also, since the space is split across several floors, it didn't feel crowded or stuffy even with a decent number of people around.

Even when visiting with a group of friends, it looked like you could settle in for a long chat as long as you grabbed a good spot, and the overall calm mood was a plus. It seemed like it would suit a blind date or a date too, where you need to talk a lot with someone.

Looking around the inside of the café, there wasn't just drinks — a variety of desserts were on display. From baked goods to cakes, the range was wide enough that even if you came just for coffee, the vibe made you want to pick something out.

That day we picked the salted choco financier and the lemon yogurt gâteau fresh cream cake to share with friends. With several of us there, we had the fun of ordering multiple items and sharing bites of each.

What I liked most about this visit to Something About Coffee was that it's a Gangnam Station café where you can chat comfortably with friends in a spacious setting. It was a rare get-together with Japanese friends, and if the seats had been cramped or the place noisy, conversation would have been tough — but with the roomy space, we could talk at ease.

With a good range of menu options from Americano to matcha choco latte, salted choco financier, and lemon yogurt gâteau fresh cream cake, there was plenty to choose from depending on your taste. It's a solid spot if you're looking for a café near Gangnam Station for a long chat with friends, or want somewhere with a nice atmosphere and space for a blind date or a date.
