I went to Garosu-gil to meet a friend after a long time. It had been ages since I'd been to Garosu-gil itself, so I felt weirdly happy just being back — and then Awesome Rose turned out to have an entrance that was anything but ordinary!

The menu board and pink vintage TV set up right at the entrance catch your eye immediately, right? Looking at it from outside, I never would have guessed a space like this was waiting inside.

Inside the basement dining room: Awesome Rose's Moulin Rouge mood

Awesome Rose is located on the basement floor. Even the stairway down is filled with roses and vintage props, so the concept hits you the moment you start walking in~

Red roses and warm lighting that instantly bring Moulin Rouge to mind... it was genuinely fun just looking around piece by piece 🌹 The space was pretty enough that it felt like a shame to just eat and leave.

Inside, the space is split between table seating and a bar table. Roses, framed art, lighting, wine bottles — everything felt styled to match the name Awesome Rose. Total good vibes only...💕

Every table had a slightly different mood, so it felt like photos would turn out great no matter where you sat, and it was also a great spot to slowly catch up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while!

There was a video playing on one wall, and that spot was basically a selfie zone on its own... there were photo-worthy points everywhere, so the space itself became a good memory haha

Further inside there was a bar area lined with liquor bottles and single seats too. It looked like a place you could come for a full meal, for a casual drink, or even alone for a single dish without feeling awkward.

Wine bottles decorated together with roses — so very Awesome Rose, right? There were honestly too many props I wanted to photograph ㅠ!!

Dates, wedding invitation parties and groups of up to 60 at Awesome Rose

I came with a friend, but this place would also suit a Garosu-gil date or a blind date really well. There are tables where several people can sit together, and staff said group seating goes up to 60. Groups of 11 or more, or private hire, can be arranged by calling ahead — worth noting if you're looking for a spot to host a wedding invitation gathering!

The restroom even had essentials like sanitary pads and mouthwash ready to go. It wasn't just the space that was styled nicely — the little details for guests were clearly thought through too! Small touches like this really do leave a better impression of a restaurant.

The four dishes we ordered at Awesome Rose

Ordering is easy — just scan the QR code at each table. We ordered mushroom soup, burrata cheese salad, rose garlic oil pasta, and rose steak rice bowl. Even with several dishes, the final bill came out lower than I expected, which made it even more satisfying. Single dishes are reasonably priced too, so they'd work well as a solo meal!

Mushroom soup: a warm start to the meal

The mushroom soup came out first! Soft and warm, it was nice to have before the mains. It felt like it gently opened up my stomach before the pasta and rice bowl, so I was glad we ordered it.

Burrata cheese salad at Awesome Rose

The burrata cheese salad looked gorgeous right away, with a big ball of burrata sitting right in the center.

We split the cheese open and ate it together with the vegetables and sauce — a refreshing thing to have between the mains. If you love burrata, try adding this as a side!

Rose aglio e olio, the signature pasta topped with a real rose

Look at this visual... a whole red rose sitting right in the middle of the pasta!

At first I thought it was just decoration, but it turned out to be an actual edible rose. The taste of the edible rose itself didn't leave a strong impression, but the experience of eating a rose alongside pasta was genuinely surprising. A signature dish that really lives up to the name Awesome Rose🌹

The rose garlic oil pasta was pretty spicy for my taste. I'm quite weak to spice, so it might be just right for others, but by my standards it was fairly fiery...! If you're sensitive to spice, it might be worth asking about the spice level when ordering.

Rose steak rice bowl: the smoky dish we kept reaching for

The dish that best matched my taste was the rose steak rice bowl! Plenty of steak piled over rice, with sauce and nuts added on top — hearty just to look at. The smoky char on the meat especially was totally my style... eating rice and meat together with a bit of wasabi on the side kept sharpening the flavor, so I just kept eating!

If you're craving rice over pasta, or you love a meat dish with smoky char, you have to try the rose steak rice bowl!

The black-and-white photo booth at Awesome Rose

Awesome Rose also has a photo booth for black-and-white photos! A vintage photo booth set inside a space filled with flowers — it fit the Awesome Rose mood perfectly... After finishing our meal, we couldn't just walk past it and took a shot haha

So we ended up with a black-and-white photo with my friend! Since it had been a while since we'd seen each other, having a photo to take home meant more than just eating and parting ways.
