Celery mayo fry sauce and pastrami at Daily Fix, a Yeoksam burger spot

I had a dinner appointment near Yeoksam Station, so I stopped by Daily Fix Gangnam Main Branch. I've been many times already, but since I'm writing this review now, I'll give you my honest thoughts. The natural comparison is Burger King, and Daily Fix is clearly a hand-made burger spot doing more than that.

Three dishes to order at Daily Fix Gangnam Main Branch

• ✔ Bacon Cheeseburger - the signature item, topped with house-made bacon that takes over 100 hours to prepare on a 100% Hanwoo (Korean beef) patty. The store's kiosk even proudly displays a line saying Davichi's Kang Min-kyung raved about it.
• ✔ Pastrami Sandwich - ciabatta packed full of pastrami cured and smoked for over 80 hours; the thickness and amount of meat are clearly on another level. (Don't think of it as a regular burger — think steak sandwich instead, or it'll feel a bit off.)
• ✔ 18mm Fries - thick-cut Belgian-style fries. You get to choose a sauce, so you can enjoy a different flavor every time.

The welcome screen at the store entrance. It listed details like Kang Min-kyung's endorsement and a 2nd-place finish in a burger championship, which built some trust. Also, the fully hand-made bacon and pastrami really do feel different — I'd recommend trying them.

How was the bacon cheeseburger?

Hand-made burgers inevitably get compared to Burger King, but the quality of each ingredient here is on a whole different level — the difference is obvious.

Why the pastrami sandwich divides opinion

The pastrami sandwich is ciabatta packed full of pastrami cured and smoked for over 80 hours. There was so much meat it looked like there was more of it than bread, and the sliced red cabbage pickle and horseradish sauce cut through the richness so I could finish it without getting tired of it. Personally, this was the most satisfying item at Daily Fix for me, but I think people expecting a burger will be divided on it.

The cross-section after cutting it in half. You can see the thinly sliced pastrami stacked layer upon layer. If you think of it as a sandwich, you can enjoy the flavors of the pastrami and bread, but it's not a juicy, buttery burger experience, so I wouldn't recommend it to burger purists.

18mm fries: how to choose your sauce

The 18mm fries are, as the name suggests, distinctly thick Belgian-style fries. Crispy outside and fluffy inside, they were delicious even on their own. You can pick one sauce when ordering, and I'd recommend going for something you haven't tried before rather than a familiar flavor like ketchup. We picked an herb-scented sauce we'd never seen before, and it paired surprisingly well with the fries — I'm planning to order it again next time.

Final verdict on Daily Fix Gangnam

With plenty of draft beers on offer too, I'd recommend Daily Fix Gangnam Main Branch if you want a hearty hand-made burger meal near Yeoksam or Gangnam Station. Personally, I haven't found a burger place in the Gangnam area that satisfies me this much, so I can confidently say it's the best burger restaurant in Gangnam.
