Where to eat before the Milyang fireworks festival

This time I went to see the Milyang fireworks festival 😳 Honestly, it wasn't quite worth the time it took... I staked out a spot from 6pm, stood around waiting, got jostled by crowds... it was really rough. All the banners and ads said it started at 8, but it was actually 9, so keep that in mind!!! I went early and waited way too long... I nearly died... haha.
To enjoy a festival you need a full stomach, right? Haha, I can't be the only one who thinks that. So I walked over and ate at Milyang Dol Jjamppong (밀양돌짬뽕), and it was way better than I expected, so I recommend it 😭 Apparently it's near Milyang City Hall, the Milyang Intercity Bus Terminal, Milyang Geumsidang, and Milyang Wiyangji Pond?!!! Seems super accessible for both Milyang travelers and locals!!
I first found out about this place through a friend who lives in Milyang. She said the sizzling stone-plate jjamppong was amazing! I was confused when I heard it came with scorched rice, but it turned out the scorched rice went surprisingly well with both the jjamppong and jajangmyeon, and it was delicious!!!
And if the scorched rice isn't enough?!!! Rice refills are unlimited! You can scoop rice yourself from the self-serve corner and mix it in or eat it alongside haha. Basically, ordering stone-plate jjamppong or jajangmyeon comes with a bonus jjamppong-rice or jajang-rice situation haha.

How were the stone-plate jajangmyeon and jjamppong?
I thought cooking to order would mean a longer wait, but the food came out fast and it was super convenient. I ordered the stone-plate jajangmyeon and stone-plate jjamppong. The jajangmyeon had a salty-sweet flavor that really stood out, and the noodles were nice and chewy.
A tip for eating the stone-plate jajangmyeon!!!! Let it simmer for another 30 seconds to a minute after it arrives — it tastes even better haha. And the stone-plate jjamppong comes out with the spicy broth still bubbling away, so from the very first spoonful my mouth was full of that refreshing spiciness haha.
Both the jajangmyeon and jjamppong let you choose a spice level, and I went with level 1, which they describe as Shin Ramyun spicy...! But it wasn't spicy at all, so next time I'll try level 2 haha.
Oh, and one more thing~ as I was eating, I noticed there was a ton of squid in there. There's actually a squid stone-plate jjamppong option too, but honestly you don't even need it — there was so much squid and vegetables already that the portion felt huge!! Everyone should think carefully about which menu to pick...!

Sides at Milyang Dol Jjamppong: dontang and green onion kimchi
On the side, dontang!!!! It's like sweet and sour pork made from breaded pork cutlet, hence the name dontang. But personally, I felt like it was basically just a pork cutlet!!

One more amazing thing I have to mention... it's not just pickled radish — they also give you green onion kimchi, which pairs perfectly with jajangmyeon!!! I already love eating Chapagetti with green onion kimchi, so this kind of touch really got me!!

Wait times and the best hour to visit
Closed on Tuesdays, break time is 4–5pm!!
Here's a visit tip: try to do an opening run right after break time, at 5pm! Getting there around 4:50pm seems just right. If you go at that time, there's less of a line and you can sit down and eat right away. I managed to eat without waiting in line that way haha.
Ah!! The waiting system is CatchTable! It might be a good idea to join the queue while you're still on your way. Also, apparently parking is available? I'll attach the parking lot address below! Hope it helps 🌷

If I go again... stone-plate jajangmyeon? Or jjamppong? It's a tough call, but... I'll go with jjamppong!!!
Also, the portions are huge, so I think it would be perfect for a group of 4 to order a 3-person portion of jjamppong or a 3-person portion of jajangmyeon and mix in the free-refill rice.
