Milyang Chinese restaurant, no-wait opening run: Milyang Dol Jjamppong
In short
Milyang Dol Jjamppong is a Chinese restaurant near Milyang City Hall in Gyeongnam, an easy lunch stop while sightseeing at Yeongnamnu. After seeing a long weekend lunch line the day before, the writer came back the next day right at opening and ordered stone-plate scorched-rice jajangmyeon (nurungji dolpan jjajang) for two plus the pork-and-chicken sweet and sour set, then mixed rice into the leftover scorched rice and black bean sauce to finish. The noodles were soft enough for a child to eat, making Milyang Dol Jjamppong a satisfying family meal out.

While planning a trip to Milyang and looking up good restaurants near Yeongnamnu, I came across Milyang Dol Jjamppong. It's located near Milyang City Hall. Actually, I happened to pass by it the day before during a weekend lunch rush, and there was a pretty long line out front. 'This must be a good spot!' I thought, so the next day I made a point of doing an opening-time run.
Where is Milyang Dol Jjamppong, and where do you park?
Milyang Dol Jjamppong is near Milyang City Hall, making it a convenient stop when looking for somewhere to eat in downtown Milyang. Parking right in front was possible too (about 4–5 spots).

There's also a free parking lot on vacant land right next to the restaurant. When I passed by the day before, there were a lot of people waiting, probably because it was lunchtime — but if you're curious, you've got to try it, haha 😂. So the next day I arrived a bit early and got in as soon as it opened.

Inside Milyang Dol Jjamppong: seating and kid-friendly extras
The inside of Milyang Dol Jjamppong was bigger than I expected. The spacing between tables was also comfortable.

The tables were spacious. Orders are placed via kiosk.

There's also a high chair and a microwave for baby food.

The self-serve bar has thin pickled radish, green onion kimchi, and onions. I find places with a self-serve bar like this really convenient.
Milyang Dol Jjamppong menu and kiosk ordering

What we ordered: stone-plate scorched-rice jajangmyeon for two, and the pork-and-chicken sweet and sour SET. We ordered via kiosk. To cut to the conclusion — both my kid and we adults ate really well 🤎
Stone-plate scorched-rice jajangmyeon: noodles first, then rice mixed in
At last, at last — the stone-plate scorched-rice jajangmyeon arrived sizzling on the hot stone plate.

It felt clearly different from regular jajangmyeon (black bean noodles). The black bean sauce had a rich, deep flavor that paired really well with the noodles. And with plenty of seafood like squid and shrimp mixed in, it had a great chewy texture and savory depth.
The noodles were on the softer side, which made them easy for my kid to eat. Even my picky eater ate the jajangmyeon well, so I think this could be a good spot for a family visit. Above all, the portion was quite generous, and by the end I was pretty full.

But that wasn't the end. After finishing the noodles, there was still scorched rice and black bean sauce left on the stone plate. We scooped a little rice over and mixed it into the leftover sauce and scorched rice — and that turned out to be a real delicacy too, haha 😂. Finishing the noodles and then eating rice too — a strangely addictive way to wrap up the meal!
How good is the pork and chicken sweet and sour set?
We also ordered the pork-and-chicken sweet and sour SET, which let us try both pork sweet and sour pork and chicken sweet and sour together.

The pork sweet and sour had a crispy outer coating, almost like fried pork cutlet. Crispy on the outside with juicy meat inside, the more you chewed the more the flavor of the meat came through.

The chicken sweet and sour also had soft, tasty meat inside, with a salty edge that had me reaching for more, personally.

Jajangmyeon and sweet and sour pork — a combination that never fails.
Looking for lunch near Yeongnamnu in Milyang?

If you're traveling around Milyang and looking for good restaurants near Yeongnamnu or lunch options near Milyang City Hall, this place is worth keeping in mind. Rather than visiting on a weekend lunch like we did, seeing a long line, and coming back the next day, I'd personally recommend just arriving a bit early to begin with. Especially with kids, it's much better to arrive early and eat comfortably than to deal with a long wait.
Final verdict on Milyang Dol Jjamppong
After passing by and seeing the long wait the day before, we got curious and went back the next day for an opening-time visit to Milyang Dol Jjamppong. From the rich, deep-flavored stone-plate scorched-rice jajangmyeon to the crispy, juicy pork-and-chicken sweet and sour SET, we ate well.
What I liked most about the stone-plate jajangmyeon was that after finishing the noodles, mixing rice into the leftover scorched rice and sauce meant we could eat it fully to the very end. My kid ate the soft noodles well too, so it was a satisfying family meal out.
If you're looking for good restaurants near Yeongnamnu, near Milyang City Hall, or for lunch in Milyang during your trip, it's popular enough to draw a wait, so I'd recommend visiting a bit early. Next time we're in Milyang, I'd like to try Dol Jjamppong (stone-plate jjamppong) — the mung bean sprouts looked like they'd be nice and crunchy!! Noting it for our next Milyang camping trip ✔️
