Milyang pork BBQ with kids: galmaegisal and hangjeongsal at Dotdot

In short

Dotdot Milyang Main Branch is a pork specialty BBQ restaurant in Samun-dong, Milyang, Gyeongnam, that opened in late August 2026. The family ordered raw galmaegisal (pork skirt meat, 120g for 9,000 won) and raw hangjeongsal (pork jowl, 120g for 12,000 won), dipped them in meljeot (fermented anchovy sauce) and sesame oil sauce, and tried unusual side dishes such as anchovy cabbage salad and olive kimchi along with tiger bean doenjang stew. With a surprise prize draw for children, Dotdot Milyang Main Branch is an easy choice for a family dinner.

Hi, it's Jjoal, mom of Yeonjun and his sister 😀 After three hours of playtime at 189 Café in Milyang, our stomachs started growling, so I searched for nearby restaurants and ended up at Dotdot Milyang Main Branch — here's how it went ✨️

It wasn't far from 189 Café in Milyang, which I liked (about a 10-minute drive).

Dotdot Milyang Main Branch opened at the end of August this year, so the exterior looked really clean and fresh.

Where to park near Dotdot Milyang Main Branch

Looking at the restaurant from the front, there's a playground on the right, and behind the playground is a free parking lot. This is an ⭐️important⭐️ detail, so it's good to know ahead of time.

The restaurant doesn't have its own dedicated parking lot, but there's a free public parking lot nearby, so you can park there and walk over comfortably (1 minute on foot). However, customers from other nearby restaurants also use it, so it's not always easy to find an open spot.

There's also a parking building right next to the restaurant, but that one charges a fee, so keep that in mind! I didn't know that and parked there by mistake, but luckily I was within the free turnaround time so I wasn't charged.

My kids aren't big fans of chewier cuts like pork belly, so this time we ordered galmaegisal and hangjeongsal — cuts that are easier for kids to eat without much fuss.

Side dishes: anchovy cabbage salad and olive kimchi

The basic side dishes at Dotdot Milyang Main Branch included anchovy cabbage salad, green onion kimchi, napa cabbage kimchi, olive kimchi, wasabi, salt, fermented seafood, soy sauce, fermented anchovy sauce (myeoljeot), and sesame oil sauce.

Dotdot's basic side dishes were a bit different from other BBQ restaurants right from the start. The cabbage salad you often see elsewhere came with small dried anchovies mixed in — the crunch of the cabbage combined with the savory anchovies gave it a really satisfying bite. And another thing that caught my eye was the olive kimchi!! I personally don't even eat olives on pizza, but I'd never seen kimchi with olives before, so out of curiosity I tried it — and I decided one taste was enough for me 😂 Still, if you're someone who normally likes olives, it might be a fun side dish to try something different.

When I dipped the nicely browned, well-grilled meat lightly into the sesame oil sauce mixed with myeoljeot and salted shrimp, it added a salty, savory depth compared to eating it plain. I also tried it with wasabi and with just salt — I liked that there were so many different sauces to pair with the meat 👍

The prize draw for children at Dotdot Milyang Main Branch

Dotdot Milyang Main Branch's special event: gacha capsule toys! While we were in the middle of grilling, a staff member came over with a box and told the kids to try a gacha pull. It was such a surprise that we paused our meal to give it a try. Each of the kids got something they loved, and it made for such a fun, happy meal.

Tiger bean doenjang stew at Dotdot Milyang Main Branch

How does the tiger bean doenjang stew taste?

I also tried the tiger bean doenjang stew (soybean paste stew) at Dotdot. Like the olive kimchi, tiger beans were something I'd never had before — they looked kind of like little grains of doenjang and had a crumbly, mealy texture that I really enjoyed. I ate it up so happily that I think I'll keep craving this tiger bean doenjang stew 🤤

We ate so well we practically cleaned our plates 🫡 The food was great, but between the gacha event for the kids and the kind staff, it turned into a meal that made everyone happy, not just full. I'd definitely recommend it as a place to visit again on our next trip to Milyang 😆
