Suyeong sashimi restaurant full-course feast: Geumrang Hoetjip

In short

Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch is a sashimi restaurant in Suyeong, Busan, with views of Gwangan Bridge. I ordered the 120,000-won Subyeon Hansang for two, from mulhoe through spicy fish stew, and loved the generous spread and kind service. Verdict: a lovely pick for a special family meal.

When you think of Busan, you think of Gwangalli! And when you think of Busan, you think of sashimi >_< I found a place in Gwangalli where you can enjoy delicious sashimi while looking out at Gwangan Bridge, so I had to share it with you (´▽`ʃ♡ƪ) It’s Geumrang Hoetjip Gwangalli Main Branch!! I’d actually visited before for a family meal with my parents, and it had left such a lovely memory that I came back again ෆ

The view from the restaurant...🌊✨ Here’s a little preview for you ෆ

A gem for sashimi, views, and banchan (side dishes), plus such kind service from the owner 👍🏻💖 We parked at Suyeon Park Public Parking Lot, and at 11 a.m. on a Sunday there was plenty of space! Compared with the Gwangalli Beach public lot, this one was definitely quieter and had a bit more turnover, which was nice (˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧

Walls full of signatures and a window seat

As soon as you walk in... there are just so many signatures covering the walls..!!! I spotted a Blue Ribbon too 💙💙

Visitor signatures and a Blue Ribbon covering the wall

There were signatures from so many celebrities—presidents, actors, singers, comedians, YouTubers, and more 🙊🙊

The one that caught my husband’s eye, haha, was Faker’s signature ㅎㅎㅎㅎ This is the sashimi restaurant where the legendary Faker has visited 🫶🏻 It instantly felt like a restaurant representing Busan’s Gwangalli—one of Gwangalli’s signature sashimi spots 💖

We were lucky enough to get a window seat, so we could eat while taking in this pretty view 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻 We ordered the Subyeon Hansang for two (₩120,000) ><

They set us up with small plates, spoons, sashimi dipping sauce (makjang), and washed aged kimchi, which I loved haha. Chogochujang and soy sauce were already on the table too.

Side dishes that filled us up before the sashimi

The very first dish was mulhoe (chilled raw-fish soup)!! Wow, the mulhoe here was tangy and so delicious!! One bite woke up my appetite completely and got me ready for everything to come ><

Mulhoe served first with the Subyeon Hansang

Right after that, we happily slurped up the nutty abalone porridge too (❁´◡`❁)

Then came all our seafood friends~~ sea cucumber, sea squirt, chopped live octopus, seaweed stems, shrimp, and gaebul (spoon worm)—such a generous seafood spread. It was plated so beautifully that just looking at it made me happy >< These shrimp in particular were incredibly fresh..!! I can still remember the taste haha... I want them again.. (And I’m actually not someone who is especially into shrimp~)

I don’t usually eat soy-marinated shrimp either, so only my husband had them, but he really enjoyed them 👍🏻👍🏻 The shrimp were wonderfully plump!!

Meanwhile, I was diligently eating the corn cheese, steamed egg, and boiled octopus that had come out earlier >< I went at it so hard before the sashimi even arrived.. 😋 Honestly, I should have paced myself from this point on!!

Cheese-grilled scallops.. you have to eat these right away while they’re warm, you know ^ㅁ^.. So I slurped those up too.. and I couldn’t just skip the kimchi pancake, so that disappeared too..

Oh, and this steamed abalone... ahhh, it was so~~~~ delicious ㅠㅠㅠ The abalone was beautifully plump and perfectly seasoned ㅠㅠ I was already satisfied and full just from the side dishes before the sashimi even came.. ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ •́ ˵) And the adorable live octopus 🤍🤍🤍 It’s definitely something people either love or hate, but I’m on team love! (Love! Love! Love!) Seeing it made me happy all over again.. 💖

We took one group shot before the sashimi arrived >_< Up to this point, almost everything had come out right away, and apart from the mulhoe, we had barely touched most of it for the photo haha. The table was completely full (つ≧▽≦)つ So much food, so happy... 🤍 And the side dishes did not feel like they were there just to make up the numbers—every single one was delicious. I thought we had found such a good sashimi restaurant in Gwangalli 🫶🏻

And then the sashimi arrived!!! Isn’t the presentation incredible,,, how do they plate it like this,,, The food is all delicious, but the plating is art too, so it would be such a great place for a first meeting between families or a special family meal 💖 (In fact, the people behind us seemed to be having that kind of first meeting ><)

Sashimi plating with red sea bream and milchi

Because we had eaten the generous side dishes without holding back, we were already quite full, but even looking at the sashimi itself, it felt like a very substantial amount for two! The selection was red sea bream, milchi (flathead grey mullet), flounder, rockfish, and flounder fin, and every single one was so, so, so delicious 🫢💖 Especially the milchi... ahh, I think I really like milchi... My husband couldn’t stop marveling at it either 🫢💖

Whenever we paused to chat and looked out the window, there was this view,, 🫶🏻✨ This place has delicious sashimi and side dishes, but the view is beautiful too, so if you’re looking for a Gwangalli sashimi restaurant with a pretty view, please remember Geumrang Hoetjip 💖 (And the owner is incredibly kind too 🥹)

Gwangan Bridge view during the meal

Even at lunch, there were quite a lot of customers, and most seemed to be locals rather than tourists! (A popular local spot that locals visit too, even among Gwangalli’s popular restaurants 👍🏻✨) Many people were having drinks with their meal, and since the side dishes were so generous and the food kept coming out like a course meal, it looked like a great place to drink slowly with the dishes as anju (food served with alcohol) too 👍🏻👍🏻

A meal and fish stew that keep coming after the sashimi

Of course, my husband and I don’t drink, but we still loved taking our time and enjoying the generous full course >_< Once you finish the sashimi, they start preparing the proper meal~~

The meal spread prepared after the sashimi

Al-bap (fish roe rice) loaded with flying fish roe, plus fried corn (so delicious💗!!!)

There was braised flounder and grilled mero fish steak too.. Main-dish-level plates just kept, kept coming,,, haha. We were full, but it was delicious, so we kept eating.. It was just so good that I couldn’t stop 😋😋

Braised flounder and grilled mero fish steak

Every single thing was tasty, honestly,, especially the fried corn and grilled mero fish steak!! Ah, but the braised flounder was delicious too.. and the al-bap.. everything really was so good 🥹🥹

The bubbling spicy fish stew chosen at the end

Last up was spicy fish stew >_< You can choose clear fish soup or spicy fish stew, and I am firmly on team spicy fish stew, so that’s what I chose. Just seeing it bubbling away again makes my mouth water,, I desperately wanted to order another bowl of rice, but I felt like I was about to burst, so I held back..

It was such a happy day of filling up completely, without a single gap, on delicious food 🥰😍 The sashimi was wonderful, of course, but the side dishes were so abundant and every one was delicious, plus the view was beautiful, so I want to come back again on another special day!! I also really appreciated how kindly we were treated from beginning to end despite the restaurant being busy. It’s a place that left me with nothing but good memories 💖

If you reserve through Naver before visiting, you’re more likely to be assigned a window seat, so I recommend booking in advance for a special occasion 🫶🏻 (It seems seats are assigned in reservation order!) If you have a special day or family meal coming up and are looking for a delicious sashimi restaurant with a great view in Gwangalli, I really recommend trying Geumrang Hoetjip at least once 💖💖💖
