Ocean-view steamed clams with a 7-year-old at Bada Super, Siheung

On a day with really gorgeous weather, I went to Bada Super Haemul Cheonha Jogaegui, Geobukseom Oido Branch to see the ocean and eat some good seafood. I was in such a good mood that day. The sea stretched out right outside the window 🌊 and the table was piled high with fresh clams and seafood! Eating fresh steamed clam soup while looking out at the ocean — how great is that? I got so happy eating it that it almost felt like my birthday, haha 🎂💕

Parking tip: the Ibiza parking tower

🚗 We arrived around 1pm and the building's own parking lot was already full. 😭 If you're visiting on a weekend or during a busy time, it might be easier to just head straight for the Ibiza parking tower across the street rather than circling around looking for a spot. I wish I'd known this beforehand, so I'm putting the parking info right up front. 😊 We had a bit of a struggle with parking.

The ocean view that impressed me the moment I walked in

The restaurant was bigger and cleaner than I expected. The blue interior evokes the sea and really fits the clam-grill vibe. But what I liked most here was, of course, the ocean view! We got lucky with a window seat, and through the floor-to-ceiling glass the sea stretched out beautifully.

The sky was blue and the weather was so nice that my mood lifted the moment we sat down. 💙 If you're looking for a clam-grill restaurant in Geobukseom and care about the atmosphere as much as the taste, the window seats here are really the draw.

Starting with welcome tteokbokki

First, the welcome tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) arrived. It was perfect for snacking on before the clam soup came out, and with cheese on top I kept reaching for more. 🧀

What we ordered that day was the small steamed clam soup for ₩54,000! When it finally arrived, my first thought was, "Wow, this is seriously generous!" haha.

What's in the small steamed clam soup — clams, and lots of them

There were scallops, mussels, various clams, abalone, shrimp, and octopus — a real variety of seafood. Napa cabbage, green onion, fish cake, and dumplings were mixed in too, so there was plenty of fun picking through it all. Most of all, the clams were fresh.

The scallops were plump with a satisfying bite, and the abalone was tender rather than chewy, so it was easy for my son to eat too. My 7-year-old son really dug in. 👦🏻

Can a 7-year-old handle it? The broth runs spicy

The broth is on the spicy side, so it might be a bit much for a kid to eat straight. But once we skipped the broth and just gave him the clam meat, he ate really well. Just how well, you ask?

I think our son ate two-thirds of the clams that day. 😂😂 We'd carefully shell them for ourselves, and the next moment they'd disappear straight into his mouth, haha. Kids' taste buds don't lie — the clams must have been that fresh and tasty.

And then came the beef shabu-shabu

While we were eating, the owner kindly gave us beef shabu-shabu on the house. 😊 Once you've eaten your way through the clams and seafood for a while, the broth turns wonderfully rich and clean. You cook the beef briefly in that broth, and... wow, it's so good. haha. I never expected the clean seafood broth and tender beef shabu-shabu to pair this well. 🥩 We were already getting full from the clam soup, but once the beef showed up, our chopsticks were back in action.

Eating seafood while looking at the ocean was just wonderful

This was the moment I remember most from that day. Blue sea stretched out beyond the window, and the table was piled with plump scallops, abalone, and fresh clams. The weather was so good the sea was sparkling. Eating fresh steamed seafood while looking out at the ocean — isn't that just amazing? 😍

My son kept eating next to me, saying the clams were delicious, and the owner even brought out the beef shabu-shabu... Good food plus a stunning ocean view really did make it feel like my birthday. 🎂💕 It felt less like just having a meal and more like being properly treated on a family trip.

Final thoughts

If you're looking for a place to eat with family in Geobukseom, this is worth a visit. You get a generous variety of fresh clams, tender abalone, and plump scallops — very satisfying. Especially recommended if your kid loves clams like mine does! The broth is spicy, which might be too much for a 7-year-old, but my son ate great once we set the broth aside and focused on the clams and seafood. 😊
