Gwanggyo Japanese restaurant late lunch for two to share: Gyuen-dang

In short

Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch is a gyukatsu (Japanese beef cutlet) restaurant on basement level 1 of Avenue France in Gwanggyo, Suwon. On a return visit just after the lunch rush, Gyuen-dang served the same two dishes as last time — tenderloin gyukatsu, grilled soft and juicy over a mini stove with melted Isigny butter, and hamburg omurice with a thick, juicy patty inside. Near Gwanggyo Jungang Station, Gyuen-dang is an easy pick when two people want to order both dishes and split them.

Today I'm sharing my trip to Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch, a gyukatsu spot in Avenue France, Suwon Gwanggyo! Honestly, this was actually a repeat visit for me haha — I loved it last time so I ordered the same menu again this time. From the gyukatsu to the hamburg omurice, everything was delicious, so I wanted to introduce it to anyone looking for a Japanese restaurant or gyukatsu place near Gwanggyo Jungang Station.

How to find Gyuen-dang after parking at Avenue France Gwanggyo

If you park in zone D24 on B2 of Avenue France, the restaurant is right there after riding the escalator up just one floor. Since it's located in Avenue France, Gwanggyo, it's also easy to reach from Gwanggyo Jungang Station.

I drove there this time, and it was so convenient not having to wander around looking for the place after parking haha. If you're planning to eat at Avenue France Gwanggyo, this route should come in handy.

Inside Gyuen-dang: atmosphere and seating

The interior of Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch has an overall slightly dim, atmospheric look, and there are window seats too, so it seemed fine for solo dining. When I visited, it was a bit past the lunch hour, but there were still quite a few customers inside.

I guess a good place stays busy even after the peak hours haha. The clean vibe also seemed nice for a date or a family meal. If you're looking for a Japanese restaurant near Gwanggyo Jungang Station where you can dine solo, this might be worth a visit too : )

What I ordered this time: tenderloin gyukatsu and hamburg omurice!

Tenderloin gyukatsu grilled with Isigny butter on a mini stove

Gyuen-dang's tenderloin gyukatsu is meant to be grilled yourself on a mini charcoal stove. It comes with Isigny butter — first you melt the butter on the mini stove, then place the gyukatsu on top and grill it to your liking.

I grilled it just right and tried it — being tenderloin, the texture was definitely soft and moist. It practically melted in my mouth, so I was personally glad I'd chosen tenderloin gyukatsu again. Dip it in teriyaki sauce, add a touch of wasabi, and eat it with rice... it's seriously so good lol. Grilling it in butter adds a savory richness, and with the sweet-salty teriyaki sauce and that little wasabi kick, I couldn't stop eating.

Eaten together with rice, it makes for a really satisfying meal — personally one of my favorites. If you like gyukatsu, I'd recommend trying the tenderloin version!

Hamburg omurice with a thick, juicy patty

Gyuen-dang's hamburg omurice is a dish with a whole thick hamburg steak tucked inside moist egg. I enjoyed this one last time too, so I ordered it again without a second thought haha. Doesn't it look delicious just from the visual?

Cut the omurice egg open down the middle, and inside you'll find moist egg and a thick hamburg steak. The patty in particular was thicker and juicier than expected, which was really satisfying.

Pour on plenty of sauce, then scoop up the egg, hamburg steak, and rice all together — that combination is genuinely delicious haha. Soft egg, a juicy patty, plus the sauce and rice together make for a combo that's familiar yet delicious. It seemed like a menu that people of any age would enjoy.

Both the gyukatsu and the hamburg omurice were delicious, so I'd recommend ordering both to share!

Why order the same two dishes again at Gyuen-dang?

I'd already been to Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch once before, and this time I ended up ordering the exact same menu again — that's how satisfied I was haha. I especially love soft meat, so I liked the tender texture of the tenderloin gyukatsu, and the hamburg omurice's combo of egg, hamburg steak, and rice together was also delicious and satisfying.

Best of all, once you park in the Avenue France underground parking lot near zone D24 and take the escalator up, the restaurant is right there, so it was easy to find.
