Gwanggyo Japanese restaurant dinner: sirloin gyukatsu at Gyuen-dang
In short
Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch is a Japanese restaurant in the basement of Avenue France by Gwanggyo Jungang Station in Suwon, Gyeonggi, where you grill your own gyukatsu (breaded, deep-fried beef cutlet) on a small stove at the table. Dinner here was sirloin gyukatsu at 19,000 won and hamburg omurice at 17,000 won, cooked slowly to the doneness we wanted. With its wood-tone interior and window-side tables for two, Gyuen-dang works just as well for a date as for a relaxed family meal.

I went to Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo Branch for dinner. There are plenty of good restaurants in Avenue France, but that day I wanted a warm, cozy atmosphere with delicious meat, so this was the spot.

Walking in, the soft lighting and wood-tone interior caught my eye right away.
Overall it felt calm yet full of that distinct Japanese-restaurant mood, so much so that I felt like I was on a little trip while eating.
What is the atmosphere like at Gyuen-dang Avenue France Gwanggyo?
🪵 A warm, cozy dining room
The atmosphere stuck with me as much as the food did.

As you can see in the photo, the brown wood-tone tables and chairs along with the soft lighting all came together for a warm feel.

Large Japanese calligraphy decorated the walls, and little Japanese-style props were placed here and there, giving the whole place an exotic feel.
Small pendant lights overhead glowed softly too, making it a comfortable spot for a quiet meal.

There were also two-top window seats, which seemed perfect for an intimate meal for two.
Overall the space wasn't overly decorated — it felt comfortable while naturally keeping that Japanese-dining vibe, and I liked it a lot.
Best of all, grilling the gyukatsu ourselves on the little stove on the table while chatting made the meal feel even more relaxed and fun.
Sirloin gyukatsu, 19,000 won: grilling it yourself at the table
🥩 Sirloin gyukatsu — ₩19,000
The dish I ordered that day was the sirloin gyukatsu at 19,000 won.
With gyukatsu, grilling it yourself right at the table is part of the fun. Once the meat arrives, you set it on the small stove and lightly grill it to your liking — it was genuinely fun the whole time I was eating.

The outside gets a nice golden sear while you grill the inside to your preferred doneness, so I really got to enjoy the meat's juiciness and tender texture.

Watching each slice sizzle away on the stove made even the waiting fun. The savory crunch of the crispy breading with the tender sirloin underneath — gyukatsu really is best eaten fresh off the grill.
How was the hamburg omurice at 17,000 won?
🍳 Hamburg omurice — ₩17,000
Soft, fluffy egg wrapped around the hamburg patty, topped with a generous pour of rich demi-glace sauce — it looked delicious just to see.

As shown in the photo, the sauce came served separately so you could pour it on moist and fresh right before eating — watching it seep between the layers of egg looked amazing. 😋

The soft egg, hamburg patty, and rich sauce came together for a savory, deep flavor in every bite.

Thanks to the egg's soft, pillowy texture, this dish felt light and easy to enjoy without being heavy.
Verdict: who is dinner at Gyuen-dang Gwanggyo best for?
🍽️ Overall verdict

This visit to Gyuen-dang Avenue France Branch was, from the atmosphere to the food, an all-around comfortable experience.

The soft lighting paired with the warm wood-tone interior made the whole meal feel even cozier,
and the Japanese-style props and calligraphy scattered around added a touch of an exotic feel too.
The sirloin gyukatsu I ordered, at 19,000 won, was especially fun since you grill it yourself right at the table — a different kind of enjoyment from a regular meal.

Being able to grill it little by little to just the doneness you want turned eating the meat itself into part of the fun.
I also liked being able to eat the gyukatsu warm and fresh straight off the grill, crispy outside and moist inside.
The hamburg omurice we ordered alongside it, at 17,000 won, also worked well as a hearty meal, with the soft egg, patty, and sauce coming together naturally.

The visual of pouring the sauce generously right in front of you was especially appetizing to watch.
More than anything, this wasn't the kind of place where you rush through your food and leave — it was a place that felt good for sitting down and slowly chatting over a meal. I'd say it's a comfortable option whether for a date, a family meal, or a get-together with friends.

If you're looking for somewhere to eat in Avenue France and want to try something a little different — gyukatsu you grill yourself plus a hearty hamburg omurice — this place is worth a visit. 😊
Between the delicious food and the cozy atmosphere, I got to enjoy the whole meal at a relaxed pace at Gyuen-dang Avenue France Branch. Next time I'd like to come back and try a few more dishes at the same unhurried pace.
