Uijeongbu dakgangjeong that stays crispy cold: Bburinkle at Dalgom's
In short
Dalgom's is a dakgangjeong (sweet crispy fried chicken) takeout shop in Uijeongbu, Gyeonggi, across from the fried chicken alley in Jeil Market. Three of us ordered the set for three — one and a half chickens for 24,000 won — in three flavors, sweet, Bburinkle (onion-cheese powder) and garlic soy, then tasted it straight from the car, five hours later and again the next day; the chicken never turned hard and the Bburinkle powder stayed intact. Dalgom's tastes like fried chicken while hot and like dakgangjeong once cooled, which makes it a solid beer snack either way.

Hey everyone 👋 it's Kkuldum :) To kick off this trip, I stopped by Dalgom's, a fried chicken (dakgangjeong) shop that's really popular in Uijeongbu's Jeil Market, and picked up some takeout.
[Hours 10:00 ~ 21:00] Closed Mondays

Where is Dalgom's? Across from the fried chicken alley in Jeil Market
Dalgom's is inside Uijeongbu's Jeil Market, across from the fried chicken alley (tonggak-golmok). Pass the really big fruit stand in Jeil Market, keep going straight to the left based on the photo, turn the corner, and you'll see it right away — it faces the fried chicken alley.
Even the exterior looked clean, which got me excited!

Inside Dalgom's: open kitchen and how the chicken is fried
Inside, the first thing I saw was a cute little chair for waiting, and it looked so clean I thought it was a new shop — but the owner said it's actually been two years. The owner weighs everything out on a scale, the chicken par-fried in the morning sells out, so they fry fresh batches throughout the day rather than one big batch — which got me even more excited. The open kitchen was so clean I couldn't not take a picture of it; it's transparent and spotless, so you can really trust what you're eating.

They have water, maté tea, sparkling water, roasted black barley tea, burdock tea, cola, sprite, zero cola, Gatorade, Pocari, Powerade, and more.

There's a microwave, and seating below the smiley sign where you can eat, plus wet wipes, tissues, and a phone stand — such a thoughtful touch, haha.
Menu and prices: one and a half chickens for three, 24,000 won
Dalgom's menu has options for one person (half a chicken), two people (a whole chicken), and three people (one and a half chickens), with flavors like Honey, Sweet, Chili Garlic, Popberokle, Cheese Mustard, Garlic Soy, and Fried.

We ordered the set for three, one and a half chickens (₩24,000) 🐷 There were so many flavor options — half a chicken gets one flavor, a whole chicken gets two, and one and a half chickens gets three — so I picked Sweet, Popberokle, and Garlic Soy.

If you order through public delivery apps like Baedal Special, Ddangyo, or Meokkaebi, you get a discount coupon, making it even cheaper!

How the sauce is tossed after you order
They put the well-fried chicken and rice cake into the sauce container, pour in fresh sauce, and toss it quickly, chop chop.

For the Popberokle I was so curious about, they generously sprinkled on the powder without holding back and tossed it — the visuals....

They packed the well-mixed chicken neatly into the container, and since it was one and a half chickens, the portion was extra generous.

They gave us pickled radish, shrimp chips, and skewers in the cute container with Dalgom's signature smiley design.

Fresh, five hours later, and the next day: does it stay crispy?
Fried chicken tastes like fried chicken when warm, and like dakgangjeong when cooled? Either way, it's delicious, haha.

I couldn't resist and cracked it open right in the moving car~~~ Eating it warm, it was truly crispy outside and juicy inside, the skin so crunchy, and this was my first time having popberokle — it was amazing, ugh. They didn't hold back on the sauce or powder, which made it even more delicious.

I kept nibbling on it, and even after about five hours it was still really tasty and great as a beer snack...

Even cold, the popberokle powder was still generous and delicious, and the sweet and soy ones were beyond words... dakgangjeong is good even cold! My ranking is samgyeopsal (pork belly) > dakgangjeong > pizza, but I ended up inhaling 5 slices of pizza anyway...

Tasting all three flavors: Bburinkle, sweet and garlic soy
The Popberokle has that sweet-and-salty combo and really tastes like the real thing — it's so good, and I think kids would love it too.

The Sweet dakgangjeong is exactly what you'd picture as classic dakgangjeong — not spicy at all, just sweet and delicious.

The heart-shaped Garlic Soy dakgangjeong tastes similar to Kyochon chicken, sweet and salty, which pairs nicely with the Sweet flavor. The chicken meat wasn't dry at all, which was even better.

Is Dalgom's dakgangjeong worth it? Down to the free shrimp chips
The shrimp chips they gave as a service were still crispy even the next day, and they're great with beer as always, haha. Dalgom's dakgangjeong is delicious hot, still great with beer once cooled, and even better and not hardened at all when eaten the next day after fully cooling.
The owners were really kind, and the shop and kitchen were so clean and hygienic that you can eat with total trust. Thanks for the meal 🙏🏻
