Date-night grill swap at an Icheon Korean BBQ: Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan
In short
Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi is a new charcoal Korean BBQ restaurant in the food alley by Icheon Terminal, Gyeonggi, and a sister brand of Jeongsiljangne Sulzip. On a dinner date with her husband, the writer grilled fresh pork neck (15,000 won) first, had the grill plate swapped, then cooked the red fresh pork belly (16,000 won) and received a free doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew) as an opening event. Because the house-made marinade uses no gochujang, the heat at Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi stays light and easy to drink with.

Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi: a new charcoal BBQ in Icheon's food alley
A while back my husband and I were wandering the dining alley for a dinner date and ended up at 'Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi' (정실장네빨간고기) — the name alone was intense and made us curious :) It's the second sister brand of Jeongsiljangne Sulzip, a brand-new opening~~
Hearing 'red meat' I assumed it had gochujang in it, but apparently it's a house-made sauce without gochujang, which made me even more curious haha. If you're looking for a BBQ restaurant near Icheon Terminal, go check it out ☺️

Where is Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi, and what are the hours and parking?
Walk about a minute up from the entrance of the dining alley and you'll spot it right away — that's Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi! True to its name, the sign is a bold red haha.

- Address: 23 Jungnicheon-ro 97beon-gil, Icheon-si, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea
- Hours: 14:00–01:00 next day (last order 00:30)
- Closed every Tuesday
🅿️ There's a nearby public parking lot you can use. It's located in the Icheon Terminal dining alley so it's very accessible — I'd recommend leaving the car and walking over.

Inside the restaurant: pojangmacha mood with a charcoal grill
The place is clean but has that pojangmacha (street food stall) energy~ and meat grilled over charcoal in that kind of atmosphere?? The answer's already decided 😎
We came a bit early, but by the time we finished eating the tables were filling up one by one. It's only just opened, but it seems already proven by taste. Great to visit with friends or family, and I'd recommend it for company dinners too!

Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi menu and prices
Signature menu
- Red fresh pork belly ₩16,000
- Red round patty (donggrangttaeng) ₩15,000
- Fresh pork neck ₩15,000
- Bowl bibimbap ₩10,000
- Udon ₩4,000
- Extra egg roll ₩8,000
The menu really has that drinking-snack feel ꔛ We were curious about the namesake dish and hungry, so today we kept it simple with red fresh pork belly and pork neck — next time I'll have to properly try the round patty too haha.

If you write a receipt review, you get a free bottle of soju as a benefit — take advantage of it 😁

Side dishes and the free opening-event doenjang jjigae
The basic side dishes they set out show real skill, which made me even more excited. Came for BBQ but it kind of felt like coming for a full Korean meal lol.
Red fresh pork belly x2 ₩32,000 / Fresh pork neck ₩15,000 / Terra beer x2 ₩10,000
Ta-da ✨️ I was excited to finally treat myself to a proper meal, and from the meat we ordered to the side dishes, everything was perfect... As an opening event they gave us a free doenjang jjigae, which made the table even more generous ♥︎

It was a spicy, savory stew loaded with tofu, meat, zucchini, onion, and green onion haha. With every bite I could feel the owner's cooking skill... 👍🏻

Fresh pork neck first, then a fresh grill plate
Starting straight off with the seasoned meat would've been a shame, so we grilled the fresh pork neck first. The grill plate is different for each type, so just ask them to swap it when you change meats.
Wetting our whistle while the meat's on the grill lol. The side dishes were so good that a 'quick sip' turned into fully soaking myself in drinks ᴛ.ᴛ

The heat's strong so it cooks fast, which I love~!! Anxiously waiting through all that sizzling sound.

Clean and savory pork neck~ such a great menu to start with. Delicious even just dipped in salt, and delicious however you eat it — with scallion strands, radish salad, or wrapped in lettuce! Charcoal really is the way to grill meat 🤍 The subtle smoky aroma makes it even better :)

How spicy is the red fresh pork belly?
After swapping the grill plate, the red meat goes on! Turned out to be thinly sliced belly~~ Cooks super fast, which I love ㅠㅠ Since it's not a gochujang-based sauce but a light house-made one, it's easy on the stomach too.

With that red color you'd think it'd be spicy, but the heat isn't heavy — not the thick, dense feeling you get from gochujang pork belly, it's much lighter. Grilling it over charcoal seems to double the umami, and since it cooks so quickly, it seemed like a great drinking snack too haha.

From the thick egg rolls to the braised potatoes, even the basic side dishes stood out so much that we didn't need any extra snacks. At 'Jeongsiljangne Ppalgan Gogi,' a great BBQ restaurant near Icheon Terminal, spend a good time with the people you love, whether friends or a partner :)
