Hi :) Today I heard there's a good-vibe bar in Suyu where you can relax, chat comfortably, and enjoy great food and drinks, so I went to check it out.
If you know Suyu, you probably know that there aren't actually that many spots that come to mind as must-visit restaurants there — or is it just me? Haha. There are tons of bars, but when I actually try to find a good restaurant, I end up not knowing where to go. So up until now I mostly went by Naver review counts or places with no wait. This time I went looking for something a little different and ended up at Bunko Suyu, where I heard you can properly enjoy fresh seafood and seasonal sashimi (제철사시미) while still getting good value for money~!

Where is Bunko Suyu, and how close is it to Suyu Station?
Bunko Suyu is located on the 2nd floor of 34-4 Dobong-ro 87-gil, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul. It's fairly close to Suyu Station and tucked inside the Suyu food alley, so it wasn't hard to find.
Once you walk into the alley and head up to the second floor, the atmosphere immediately feels different. Isn't the entrance to the 2nd floor just so nice >_<

Is Bunko Suyu quiet for a Suyu bar? The atmosphere
Bunko Suyu has a warm, calm interior, and the mood was better than I expected. Most bars in Suyu tend to be pretty loud and lively, so I really liked how relatively relaxed this place felt.
I thought it'd also work well for a blind date or a regular date. I came with a friend today though haha.

What comes in the 64,000-won set for two
Here's the menu~ After looking it over, I ordered the most famous item, the set menu for two. It comes with a whole lineup — salad, menchi katsu, aged sashimi, sushi, crab guts pasta, and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup) — all for 64,000 won! And that's the price for two people, not per person, so the value was really solid!!!!!! I also got a Bunko highball on the side, haha.
Sweet pumpkin salad
First up was the sweet pumpkin salad. I usually don't eat much sweet pumpkin because of its slightly fishy edge, but the combination with cheese and bacon chips worked way better than I expected. Sweet and soft, it was great for waking up your appetite.

Menchi katsu (fried minced meat cutlet)
The menchi katsu (minced meat cutlet) was crispy outside and moist inside, almost melting softly in your mouth. It wasn't over-fried either, so it had exactly the kind of flavor that makes you want a drink right away!

The Bunko highball
The Bunko highball paired really well, nice and refreshing~!

Sushi course
The sushi was tasty too — I especially liked the egg sushi and something like a salmon piece, those were my favorites.

How was the seasonal sashimi at Bunko Suyu?
And then the star of the show — seasonal sashimi! The plating alone caught my eye, it was so pretty. Served elegantly on a single plate, just looking at it put me in a good mood.
Beyond just being fresh, the seafood was well-aged, giving it good texture and a deep savory flavor. Sashimi isn't just about freshness — the degree of aging changes the taste and texture — and overall it was really satisfying.

Finishing with crab guts pasta and jjamppong (spicy seafood noodle soup)
By the time I was already pretty full, the crab guts pasta arrived — thick, nutty, and rich in a way that was really appealing. The fishy edge you sometimes get from crab guts wasn't strong at all, so it was easy to enjoy without any hesitation.

And finally, the jjamppong arrived to wrap things up filling and satisfying. The broth wasn't too heavy or spicy, staying clean and light, which made it the perfect closer after drinks.

Small details: the lucky draw event and the restroom
Bunko Suyu also has a lucky draw event, including one for receipt reviews?? It was so much fun, great touch 👍👍 The restroom is inside the store and kept clean, which I also appreciated~

Who is Bunko Suyu best for — friends, a date or a blind date?
This is a good place to visit on a day when you want to catch up with friends at a relaxed pace, or when you're planning a special date, or simply when you want a drink somewhere with good vibes alongside great seasonal sashimi.
From seasonal sashimi to futomaki and a range of à la carte dishes, plus a genuinely comfortable atmosphere for conversation, I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good date spot or a place for a blind date in Suyu. If you're looking for a bar in Suyu that isn't too loud, with good vibes and good value for money, Bunko Suyu is worth a visit :)
