Why salad before a gopchang gathering

There was a Q3 2026 gopchang (grilled beef intestine) meetup. Every time we get together we eat greasy gopchang and part ways... but as I get older my digestion just can't keep up? Haha.

This time we were meeting early in the morning, so I wondered — why not start the day with something healthy and light? That's how I ended up at PARENTS Salad & Coffee, a salad spot in Jungang-dong. It sits between buildings in Jungang-dong and is known as a lunch salad and poke go-to in the area!

Naver lists it as regularly closed Saturdays and Sundays, but I visited on a Saturday a little after 10am! If you're planning a weekend visit, double-check the hours before you go.

Where PARENTS Coffee & Salad is

PARENTS Coffee & Salad is close to Jungang Station Exit 14. I walked straight down from Busan Station, and it didn't feel too far.

Jungang Station has a lot of office workers on weekdays, so the back alleys are lined with good restaurants. If you want something healthy, refreshing and tasty instead of gukbap, Korean food, Chinese food, or anything that gives you that post-lunch food coma, have a healthy meal at PARENTS Coffee & Salad!

Since we were having gopchang for lunch, we decided to keep it simple — salad plus coffee!

There's a whole lineup of salads, poke, pasta salad, wraps, and burritos, with a huge variety of proteins like tofu, shrimp, salmon, duck, and chicken breast. People say salads get boring after a while, but rotating through a menu like this could easily last a month, no problem, right? Haha.

You can add toppings, and there are plenty of dressing options too! For anyone who has trouble deciding, the best-menu picks are marked, so starting with those on your first visit is basically the rule, right? Haha.

There's also a wide range of coffee and drink options, and get this — they even have protein drinks. Amazing. Anyone working on their body needs to get their protein in. PARENTS Coffee & Salad makes that easy to grab!

Inside the store and seating

The seating toward the back of the store is spacious. I imagine a lot of office workers come in during weekday lunch hours.

While waiting for our order, delivery orders kept coming in one after another. Craving a refreshing salad but no greens at home? Just order a healthy, tasty PARENTS salad, haha.

PARENTS' new menu items

New menu items are introduced on the store wall. These break the stereotype that 'salad' means you'll still be hungry and it won't taste good. Woo-samgyeop (thinly sliced beef brisket) poke, woo-samgyeop buckwheat noodle salad, yukhoe (Korean beef tartare) buckwheat noodle salad, and pajae samgyeopsal (pork belly with scallions) salad!!!!! Hahaha.

It's supposed to be a healthy salad, but pajae samgyeopsal sounds like it would really win everyone over, don't you think?

Grilled mushroom arugula salad and coffee prices

We ordered the grilled mushroom arugula salad. We also ordered one iced latte and one orange juice.

The grilled mushroom salad is under ₩10,000, the americano is ₩2,000, and the latte is ₩3,500. Wow. With prices these brutal these days, isn't that seriously great value?????

After tasting it

I went with the oriental dressing. The combination of grilled mushrooms and arugula was so tasty. It also had fresh vegetables, granola, and ricotta cheese, so I really enjoyed eating it. I sometimes make salad at home, but why doesn't it ever taste like this? Hahaha.

These days if I don't deliberately make myself eat vegetables, I just don't get around to it, but this was a healthy meal that didn't leave me tired afterward! I recommend PARENTS Salad!
