Gangneung ocean-view café for jujube tea: Baegya Coffee

While looking for an ocean-view café in Gangneung, I came across Baegya Coffee (백야커피), so here is my visit review. Along with the ocean view, it is close to Anmok Beach, so you can enjoy the beach too.

It is a large café spanning floors 1 through 3, where you can enjoy Gangneung's ocean view.

The parking area was spacious, and there was even room to park behind the café.

It is open from 9:00 to 20:50.

Drinks, breads, and cakes

Along with Americanos, there were lattes, tea ades, and cream lattes, plus ice cream that kids would love.

As you would expect from a large café, there was an enormous selection of bread. What I really liked was the glass door that kept dust off the bread—you had to press a button before taking anything. There were so many kinds, from mocha buns to have with coffee to sausage breads kids would enjoy.

I could also see egg tarts and walnut tarts baked nice and crisp.

There were cakes, of course, including half-and-half cakes in just the right size to have with coffee.

There were also sliced cakes and whole cakes, so you could choose according to your taste.

Such thoughtful touches: a microwave for warming bread, paper cups and water, and a self-packing station!

The sea from the third-floor floor-to-ceiling windows

I headed up to the third floor. The interior was lined with floor-to-ceiling windows, and since it is a large café, there were plenty of tables and chairs. There were tables for four as well as a bright space opening onto the ocean view. It felt like a weight had lifted off my chest. When you think of Gangneung, isn't it the sea?

Jujube tea and bread ordered on a chilly day

It had rained the day before, so it felt a little chilly. I ordered jujube tea, misutgaru (a roasted-grain drink), a chocolate baguette, and squid-ink cheese bread and brought them upstairs.

The chocolate baguette was packed with chocolate—kids would really love it, right? It was also perfect with an Americano. The squid-ink cheese bread was soft and wonderfully flavorful.

The jujube tea tasted so rich, as if not a single drop of water had gone into it.

It was topped generously with nuts and jujubes, and I thought that even with the chilly wind and rain, I would never catch a cold.

The inside was full of chocolate too, and it was moist enough that you could feel it. It was an instant sugar boost.

The squid-ink bread had plenty of cheese, making it nutty and so satisfyingly moreish.

Even the jujube tea looked full of goodness, and when I looked inside, it had even more nuts than I expected.

Self-packing the generous amount of bread

There was so much bread that it was generous even for two people, and I thought I should pack some up myself at the self-packing station.

The baguette end was so crisp and delicious, with a moist interior and crisp exterior. The texture was excellent.

There was also a charging service, with a space where you can charge freely, so do keep that in mind!

As expected, there was too much bread, so I packed it up. There were plastic bags, so I could open one right away and pack everything neatly.

I could pack each kind of bread separately without making a mess, so it was quick and easy. There were paper bags too, so I could place everything neatly into one and take it away.

Baegya Coffee is an ocean-view café in Gangneung with Anmok Beach nearby for a quick walk. As a large café, it had plenty of seats and ample parking, which made it very convenient. With drinks and ice cream for children too, it is a great Gangneung bakery café to visit with family and simply gaze at the ocean.
