In short

Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli branch is a Chinese-style bar serving Peking duck in an alley off Gwangalli Beach in Suyeong, Busan. Dinner was half a Peking duck (39,000 won), lettuce duck wraps as an 8,000 won add-on, shumai, egg noodles redeemed with a Naver reservation review coupon and a Tsingtao beer. I went to Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli branch (미림양장 광안리점) in Gwangalli for Peking duck. What we ate that day was half a Peking duck, lettuce duck wraps, shumai, egg noodles, and a Tsingtao. We centered the meal on duck and rounded it out with sides and a noodle dish.

Inside Mirim Yangjang, an alley off Gwangalli Beach

Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli branch stands out with its black exterior and gold signage. Walking in, the first thing I saw was the duck hanging in the cooking area. From the entrance alone, it already felt like a place built around Peking duck.

The inside is decorated with red-toned walls and paintings. There are window seats and inner seats, and the mood shifted a bit depending on where you sat.

It's a different kind of space from the Chinese restaurants I usually go to, so I took my time looking around the place before the food arrived.

Half a Peking duck for 39,000 won

We ordered half a Peking duck. At the time of our visit, the menu listed it at ₩39,000. We chose the half portion since we planned to eat other dishes too, and once the duck arrived on a black plate, it was the first thing that caught my eye out of everything we ordered that day.

The duck skin was glossy, and vegetables and sauce came alongside it. At first I ate the duck plain, then tried it with the vegetables and sauce. It was nice being able to enjoy the same duck in different ways depending on what I paired it with.

Lettuce duck wraps: an 8,000 won add-on

The lettuce duck wraps aren't included by default with the Peking duck. It's a side you can add for ₩8,000 when you order the duck, so we ordered it separately too.

Eating the duck wrapped in lettuce gave it more of a fresh, vegetable-forward feel compared to eating the duck alone. Adding the lettuce duck wraps to the half Peking duck meant we got to enjoy the same duck two different ways. If you like pairing meat with vegetables, it's worth ordering alongside the duck.

Shumai and the coupon egg noodles

The shumai (steamed dumplings) came out in a bamboo steamer. They were easy to pick at one by one between bites of duck, and having a steamed dish added made the meal feel more varied.

The egg noodles can be redeemed with a review coupon when you book through Naver Reservation. We had the egg noodles along with the duck and shumai that day.

A bowl of egg noodles mixed with vegetables

The noodles had vegetables mixed in, so they worked well as a dish distinct from the duck.

A bottle of Tsingtao next to the egg noodles

We also ordered a bottle of Tsingtao. We ate slowly, going back and forth between the duck and lettuce wraps and then the shumai and egg noodles. It was a day when I wanted to eat several Chinese dishes together rather than just Peking duck, and this lineup hit the spot.

At Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli branch, we centered the meal on half a Peking duck, added lettuce duck wraps and shumai, and had egg noodles through a Naver Reservation review coupon. With Tsingtao alongside, it made for a filling dinner.

It's been a while since I took a photo of a plate this cleaned out.
