What kind of place is Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli branch?
Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli branch is a Peking duck Chinese restaurant on Gwangan Beach-ro 295beon-gil in Suyeong, Busan. It's open daily from 12:00 to 2:00 the next day, there's no parking lot so you'll need to use a nearby one, and it's a 5-minute walk from Gwangalli Beach. Naver Reservation is available and it's fine for groups or work dinners.
My husband had been saying for a few months that there was a restaurant he wanted to try..! That place was Mirim Yangjang. He loves Chinese food, and we hadn't had good Peking duck in a while, so we finally went.

Even from a distance, the building gives off a fancy Chinese restaurant vibe!! The burgundy wallpaper color is so on-trend this year?? Let's follow the trend and have some Peking duck.

There's a standing menu board out front that's easy to see. It's also written in English, so it's handy for foreign tourists to check the menu.

The mood at Mirim Yangjang: date night or work dinner
Inside Mirim Yangjang Gwangalli branch, the toned-down brick-red wallpaper and wine-colored tables and sofas make an impression. Right as you walk in you feel that upscale Chinese restaurant feeling ,,, ★ The atmosphere has just the right amount of weight, so it works well for a date, but it also feels fine to come casually! When we went, a group of men in their 60s or so were gathered together enjoying drinks, and it was a nice sight.

The open display fridge also catches your eye, haha. That should give you a sense of the vibe..!
What's on the menu at Mirim Yangjang

First off, Mirim Yangjang's main dish is Peking duck! ♡ Besides that, there's duck soup, dongpo pork belly, fish-fragrant eggplant, fried eggplant, sweet and sour pork (kkwabaerogi), mapo tofu, fried pork and every kind of delicious Chinese dish you could want. (We received Hong Kong-style egg noodles (R) through a review event.)

There's also a rich lineup of rice, noodles and side dishes, so it's a great place to go with a group and order a variety of things.

There's also plenty of alcohol, from baijiu to highballs, soju and beer, so you can pair drinks with whatever food you order.
What a couple ordered, and what it cost
- Half Peking duck (₩39,000)
- Mapo tofu (₩19,000)
- Rice x2 (₩4,000)

Before the food comes out, they give you julienned cucumber and scallion, pickled mustard greens and peanuts (the peanuts here are so good).

Mapo tofu (₩19,000)
Mapo tofu, wow.. ♡ It passes the visual test right away. The smell of mala spice drifts up too.

The soft tofu pairs so well with the mala sauce, giving off a really deep mala flavor packed into every bite. You'd be a fool not to order rice with it,, it was spicy and tingly and so delicious.

Scooping the mapo tofu onto the rice we'd already ordered and mixing it together, this place turns into heaven ☆ Highly recommend the mapo tofu!!

Half a Peking duck (₩39,000)
Mirim Yangjang's half Peking duck is ₩39,000. Peking duck usually has a reputation as a pricey, high-end dish, but here you can taste it at a very reasonable price!

The Peking duck comes out with the duck skin together — the duck meat is clean and mild with no particular gamey smell, so even a first-timer could easily enjoy it. The skin is crispy and fun to eat!! The staff kindly explained how to eat it, so it's approachable even for beginners. Thin pancakes and julienned vegetables come alongside for wrapping the Peking duck ~

A generous spread. Let's eat ourselves silly again today ,, ♡

How to wrap Peking duck at the table
Put scallion and cucumber on the thin pancake, then the Peking duck on top, and finally dip the skin in the special sauce and wrap it all up for one bite — the clean flavor of the duck and the crunch of the skin blend so harmoniously with the sauce and vegetables!

I'm more of a skin person than a duck-meat person, so I wrapped just the skin in the pancake, and that was also incredibly delicious! ♡ My husband also said the atmosphere and food were so good that this would be a great spot for a work dinner or family gathering!
Is Mirim Yangjang in Gwangalli worth it? Final verdict
This was our first Peking duck in about a year. We don't usually get the chance to eat it, but I'd heard Mirim Yangjang's Peking duck was famous for being both good value and delicious, so we came to check it out — and it's true. A lot of people think of it as a hard-to-approach dish, but this place has all kinds of Chinese dishes beyond just Peking duck, so anyone who likes Chinese food should find it easy to visit. It's food that younger folks can enjoy together too, so I recommend Mirim Yangjang as a go-to Chinese restaurant in Gwangalli!
