Gwangalli business meeting lunch with salad pizza: Extra Mile, Busan

I went to Busan last week :) This trip wasn't the usual one with my kids — this time I had a bit of a special business meeting. I do purchasing agency work for Japan, and I came to Busan to meet a purchasing agency expert for a business meeting. Living inland, whenever I go to Busan I always want to see the sea. So the place I found was Extra Mile, a pizza restaurant in Gwangalli, Busan!

A quiet Gwangalli restaurant tucked down an alley

Extra Mile sits a little ways in from the Gwangalli beach road, down an alley. When I think of Gwangalli, I usually picture the bustling area right by the beach, but this place had a much quieter, more relaxed atmosphere than I expected.

Eating with a view of the sea in Gwangalli is nice, but I found eating in a relaxed way just a bit inside the alley pretty appealing too.

The sign isn't super eye-catching at first, so we got a little lost on the way. Just look for the blue plate-shaped marker! It says "Extra Mile" on it, so once you spot it you'll immediately think, "ah, this is the place!" :) The white exterior of the building was also striking — it felt like a former residential building turned into a cozy restaurant, giving it a comfort that's different from the usual restaurant in a busy commercial street.

Walking into Extra Mile, the cooking area was open to view. I personally like restaurants set up this way.

Being able to watch the staff prepare the food, in such a clean, well-organized space, made me look forward to the meal even more.

We ordered the Classic Combo set for two.

You can pick your own pizza and pasta, so we went with salad pizza plus white ragu pasta. It was a good combination for two people to share pizza and pasta together.

White ragu pasta at Extra Mile

When I think of ragu pasta, I usually picture a red, tomato-based ragu. This was my first time trying a white ragu, so I was curious how it would taste. Eating it, it definitely had a different charm from a typical ragu pasta.

It was a bit more oily and creamy, and the texture of meat and vegetables mixed together was nice too. The sauce blended really well with the noodles — it was more delicious than I expected.

If you usually like tomato-based pasta but are looking for a different kind of Italian dish to try, this one is worth ordering at least once.

Salad pizza: nuts and crisp, chewy dough

And personally, the dish I remember most was the salad pizza! At first I figured a pizza topped with salad would just be a light dish. But it was way more delicious than I expected!!

The salad vegetables were cut into easy-to-eat pieces, so it was convenient to eat with the pizza, and the salad dressing paired really well with the pizza. Above all, the nuts scattered on top were a genius touch.

The dough was crispy on the outside and moist and chewy inside — really delicious! With the savory taste and texture of the nuts added, it felt different from a plain vegetable-topped pizza. The pizza's own flavor, the freshness of the salad, and the nuttiness of the nuts came together, and I kept reaching for more.

If you're looking for a pizza restaurant in Gwangalli, Busan and want to try something a bit different, I'd recommend the salad pizza. And since the pizza can also be ordered half-and-half, if you want to try a couple of different flavors, going half-and-half might be a good idea :) We ordered just the salad pizza this time, but next time I'd like to try other pizzas too.

The lemon-flavored sparkling water we added on wasn't overly fizzy, and it was a really good pairing with the Italian food!

Why Extra Mile works for a relaxed meeting in Gwangalli

What I liked about this visit to Extra Mile was the food, but also the atmosphere. If you want good food in Gwangalli but want to avoid noisy, crowded places, this kind of Italian restaurant tucked into an alley is a good option. Especially since I was there for a business meeting, having a space where we could chat and eat slowly, rather than somewhere too hectic, was satisfying.

I visit Busan every now and then for errands, and among the places I've eaten at, this one really stuck with me. Actually, this visit was made with some support as part of a sponsored campaign. But regardless of the sponsorship, the food was good enough that I'd want to come back and pay out of my own pocket too. I especially want to try the salad pizza again. Next time I'll order the pizza half-and-half so I can try other menu items too, haha.

If you're looking for a place in Gwangalli, Busan to enjoy good Italian food, pasta, and pizza without too much crowd noise, give Extra Mile a try. Even if, like me, you usually think of just the beach when you hear "Gwangalli," you might find the fun of a relaxed meal in a quiet alley nearby.
