Gwangalli pizza restaurant with a baby: partition seats at Extra Mile

In short

Extra Mile is a casual American dining restaurant in a converted house in an alley in Gwangalli, Suyeong, Busan. Seated in a partitioned booth with a baby, the writer ordered the 42,000 won Classic Combo — a half-and-half birria taco and hot honey pepperoni pizza plus bisque cream pasta — and asked for cilantro on the side, which gave the taco pizza a genuinely authentic flavor. Between the divided seating and the coloring mat for kids, Extra Mile is an easy Gwangalli pizza restaurant to visit with a child.

A great-vibe American dining spot in Gwangalli 🩷 Extra Mile 🩷 Cool autumn weather in Gwangalli, where travelers and locals alike seem to be on vacation! I came to this casual American dining restaurant — a converted house done up beautifully — to eat some good pizza and pasta.

Extra Mile opening hours in Gwangalli

Extra Mile is open daily 11:00–21:00, closed Friday, September 25 for Chuseok. It's on the first floor of a house tucked in a Gwangalli alley at 11 Suyeong-ro 554beon-gagil, Suyeong-gu, Busan, South Korea.

Best seats with a baby: partition booths and the open kitchen

Extra Mile's seating is split into private spots, solo-dining seats, and open seating. Since I had my baby with me, I sat in a booth with a partition. The interior is bright and spacious to begin with, but the best part is that the tables are wide too.

Open kitchen where the cooking process is visible

It's a fully open kitchen, so you can see the whole cooking process at a glance — I liked how clean it felt. All the staff wear the same blue caps as a kind of signature, clean and blue, evoking the Gwangalli sea. Nice choice.

At Extra Mile you can get pizza and pasta together, and I went with the Classic Combo since the discount was solid. You pick one pizza and one pasta for ₩42,000. I added cheese crust for ₩4,000 and a Zero Coke for ₩2,500.

I ordered a half-and-half pizza, going with birria taco and hot honey pepperoni — the taco side comes with cilantro. Honestly that's how you're meant to enjoy this menu properly, but I mentioned I'm a cilantro coward, so they said they'd bring it on the side and I could add it myself 👍🏼 I also ordered the bisque cream pasta with shrimp.

Colored pencils and a coloring placemat on the table

Coloring in the Gwangan Bridge mat while we waited

Funny thing — there were colored pencils at the table and I wondered why, then realized the paper placemat under the tableware could be colored in. Such a smart idea for keeping kids focused instead of bored while waiting! Dining out with a child is genuinely chaotic and hard, so this was a great touch. Even for travelers, coloring in the Gwangan Bridge design makes the Busan trip feel a bit more special.

House-made dough at Extra Mile, and what fell short

Extra Mile says it makes its dough in-house using premium Italian flour and the Biga pre-fermentation method. According to the menu description, long, low-temperature aging is meant to give a crust that's crispy outside and chewy inside, with a savory dough flavor that comes through more the more you chew — reading that made me even more excited. The music was good, the vibe was good, and the seats were spacious enough to make storing bags easy. One thing: I think a cushion on the partition-booth chairs would make guests even happier.

Getting the cheese crust was a masterstroke. You really need that savory crust all the way to the edge to properly enjoy a pizza. Nice that the menu has pizza, pasta, and salad all together.

A slice of hot honey pepperoni pizza

Hot honey pepperoni pizza

The hot honey pepperoni really lives up to its name — spicy, sweet, punchy, and delicious. A pizza for grown-ups.

A slice of birria taco pizza

And here's the taco pizza I was worried about because of the cilantro. But it's Extra Mile's signature popular pizza, so I couldn't skip it — and huh? Adding the cilantro actually made it taste like a genuine taco, and it was even better with it.

Birria taco pizza topped with cilantro and onion

The cilantro wasn't the intense kind you get in Chinese food — more like the milder version I had in Vladivostok — so I could handle it fine. In fact, without the cilantro and onion, the taco pizza tasted like a plain bulgogi pizza; adding them was the finishing touch, the signature punch that made it a distinctive, delicious pizza.

Shrimp bisque cream pasta topped with gamtae

The bisque cream pasta had an intensely strong shrimp aroma. If you love that rich, dense-feeling pasta drenched in oil and cream, mouth full of flavor — this is for you. They told me to top it with a little gamtae (dried sea lettuce), and it suited my taste well.

When is Extra Mile worth a visit?

Extra Mile was a great Gwangalli pizza restaurant — nice neighborhood alley vibe, pretty interior, good for talking over a meal. A Gwangalli restaurant that works for blind dates, date nights, travel, anniversaries, any occasion 🩵🩵🩵
