Rainy-day terrace pork belly BBQ in Gyeongju: Ddeoggogi Ttaenggijae
In short
Ddeoggogi Ttaenggijae is a charcoal grill restaurant in Hyeongok-myeon, Gyeongju, Gyeongbuk. On a rainy day, the writer grilled AI-pre-grilled whole pork belly over charcoal, paired with homemade side dishes, gyeolmyeongja (cassia seed) tea, steamed egg, marinated crab, and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew). With wide table spacing, a baby chair, and a camping-style terrace, it's a great spot for families.

I heard there was a delicious meat place in Hyeongok, Gyeongju, so I rushed over on a rainy day~ Korea's weather these days is kind of like a Southeast Asian squall lately, pouring then clearing haha~ Still, a lot of people have been upset about the drought, so I wish it would rain nice and refreshingly...

Exterior and interior atmosphere
This is the exterior of Ddeoggogi Ttaenggijae, with a deck, lighting, and a comfortable vibe.

The interior was super clean too, and the table spacing was wide, so even though it's not a private room, the layout let you enjoy it privately.

Meat that comes AI pre-grilled
This Hyeongok restaurant apparently has AI pre-grill the meat to just the right degree before serving~ It wouldn't be easy for a person to pre-grill everything consistently the same way, so it's kind of fascinating and trust-inspiring hahaha.

Menu and prices
Whole pork belly 120g is ₩10,000, whole pork neck 120g is ₩10,000, and pork jowl is ₩12,000~ The value for a full plate of whole pork belly seems really good too — 500g for ₩38,000~ They've got everything from ddeoggogi (back meat) to makchang (small intestine) to pork ribs, even my favorite pork skin~ Nothing's missing haha. A perfect spot for a drink!!

Family-friendly seating and terrace
There are baby chairs, so it's great to visit with kids~ There were a lot of families there too~

There's even a terrace that feels like camping~ It's like stopping by somewhere fun to grill meat!!

Homemade side dishes and gyeolmyeongja tea
The basic side dishes were so neat and there was a good variety of sauces, and above all it was so clean that I loved it~ A place you can trust!!^^ They said they make all the side dishes themselves~ From the kimchi on, everything was delicious~ A totally satisfying review!! Sharing it with you^^
They bring you gyeolmyeongja (roasted cassia seed) tea the moment you sit down, and I was genuinely touched~ Whether it's the gyeolmyeongja that makes your eyes pop open.. you can really feel how much thought they put into your health, even with the water.

They serve side dishes that go so well with pork belly, and so prettily too~ You could feel the care in every dish.

That gyeolmyeongja tea~~ I won't forget it~~
The steamed egg bowl might not look like much, but it was like a piece of pottery that holds heat for a long time~ Don't grab that bowl with your hand — it's dangerously, dangerously hot haha.

Grilling the whole pork belly over charcoal
The whole pork belly's visuals were seriously done~ Definitely traces of the AI pre-grilling everything so tastily, evenly, and precisely without error hahaha.

Makes me happy just looking at it~
They put the well-pre-grilled meat on, added garlic, added mushrooms too — since it was already pre-grilled, it didn't take long at all.

My partner even piled on plenty of my favorite garlic haha.
Nothing beats meat grilled over charcoal after all — I was already drunk on the smell.

Grilling it golden brown while it takes on that smoky charcoal flavor.

Ta-da~~ Even looking at it again, it's mouthwatering~ I want to go back right now~ haha.

Time to dig in, go go!!

Wrap, fish sauce, and doenjang jjigae combo
Wrapping the meat in a lettuce leaf and taking one big bite, all the fatigue of the day melted away.
I piled it high with jaeraegi (fresh cabbage kimchi) and ate it until my mouth was stuffed hahaha.

The fish sauce wasn't too salty, so it was really delicious^^ Even dipping it generously was good good!!

For the bubbling doenjang jjigae, we added garlic, chili, and fish sauce~ hahahaha, the fish sauce is the killer touch — I highly recommend adding it when you try it^^
Finishing with crab and rice
Koreans really do run on rice, so haha, I went for rice again today^^
It's only human to feel happy over crab packed full of meat^^ Mixing it into a bowl of rice and finishing it off, that's when I finally felt like I'd properly eaten hahaha. I can't help myself~

Really hearty, right?^^ Coming out after a while and looking at the rain-soaked street view, I could feel autumn arriving suddenly~ Maybe because the summer was unusually hot, today autumn felt even more welcome and exciting~ Welcome, autumn.
