This is Wolmidang, a well-known pho spot near Chonnam National University, Buk-gu Office, and Megabox. The clean, casual exterior really stands out -* We visited around 2pm on a weekday for a late lunch and the place had a very relaxed vibe. Break time is 3–5pm, so make sure to check before you go!

Wolmidang's Chonnam National University branch is a pho specialist proud of several standout dishes — bún chả made with fresh vegetables used the same day, and a charcoal-grilled bulgogi rice bowl made with antibiotic-free eggs, domestic rice, and curcumin powder. They also accept Onnuri gift certificates and Bukkeu Money for discounted payment~!

The menu includes pho, bún chả, bulgogi rice bowl, griddled bulgogi, cha gio (fried spring rolls), menbosha (fried shrimp toast), and more. If you like it spicy, you can add Vietnamese hot chili paste, and if you enjoy the local flavor, you can add cilantro.

The pickled onion that comes as a side with the pho haha. Following the tip, we mixed in the chili sauce and hoisin sauce at a 1:1 ratio~!

Beef brisket pho, 11,000 won

A bowl of pho arrived with a clear broth full of bean sprouts and standout chunks of beef brisket!

A bowl of beef brisket pho

The beef brisket was generously portioned with no skimping — savory and clean-tasting, and the crunchy bean sprouts paired with it so harmoniously.

The clear, deep broth combined with the rich texture of the meat made for a hearty yet clean flavor from the very first sip. The soft rice noodles suited the clear, rich broth so well that I slurped it right up haha

Add the pickled onion on top and the spicy-sweet-tangy umami gets even richer 😆

Griddled bulgogi with cheese and grilled rice balls, 15,000 won

A dish with three things going for it — delicious bulgogi, soft and chewy salty-savory cheese, and grilled rice balls!

The sweet and salty bulgogi seasoning with a charcoal-grilled flavor totally won me over!!

It had a deeper flavor than typical seasoned bulgogi, and the savory cheese and clean-tasting rice balls softened and wrapped around it beautifully.

Is ordering both Wolmidang dishes together worth it?

Alternating a sip of clear, refreshing pho broth with a bite of sweet-salty bulgogi rice ball meant there was never a dull moment haha. It wasn't just a light noodle dish — it was a satisfying lunch spread that covered both texture and fullness!

It's a combo I'd recommend when you want both comforting warmth and the appeal of a savory carb, and it made me appreciate how well Wolmidang's menu is put together. Next time I really want to try the bún chả too >.< If you're looking for good pho near Chonnam National University and Buk-gu Office, I highly recommend checking out Wolmidang's Chonnam National University branch 👍💛
