Fig vs mango mochi prices at a Gyeongju dessert café: Tareudang

In short

Tareudang is a fruit mochi and tart dessert café on Sajeong-ro in the Hwangnidang-gil area of Gyeongju. Sharing the fig yogurt mochi (5,500 won), mango yogurt mochi (8,500 won) and fresh chocolate mochi (6,000 won) with my brother, the rice cake at Tareudang was springy and chewy and packed with generous fruit and yogurt. The fig mochi is only made in season, so it is worth planning around on a Gyeongju trip.

Mochi loaded with fresh fruit, crispy tarts, and soft butter rice cake are the popular menu items. The red kiwi cream mochi and pineapple cream mochi are apparently especially popular, with the refreshing tartness and sweetness blending together really well. The packaging is really pretty too, so it makes a perfect souvenir. My brother and I stopped by on our trip and it was such a good choice. Highly recommend if you're looking for a good café or dessert spot in Hwangnidang-gil!

This one is seriously amazing. The outer mochi skin is so wonderfully chewy!

Inside, it's packed with fresh figs and yogurt, and the fig's distinctive sweetness blends really well with the yogurt's freshness. It's a special menu item you can only get during fig season, so it'd be such a shame to miss it ㅠㅠ At ₩5,500, the amount of filling inside is really generous, so it's great value too!

Mango yogurt mochi, 8,500 won: packed with whole mango

The most expensive of the three, and for good reason. It's genuinely packed with well-ripened mango! One bite and the mango's sweet juice bursts out, meeting the yogurt's softness for a perfect combination. Absolutely recommend this one to anyone who loves mango. The quality is well worth the ₩8,500!

Fresh chocolate mochi, 6,000 won: the break between fruit mochi

Besides the fruit mochi, there's also a chocolate mochi! The outer mochi skin is chewy, and inside the fresh chocolate has a genuinely rich flavor that comes through. Perfect for anyone who loves sweet chocolate. We ordered it alongside the fruit mochi and alternated between them, and it was truly the perfect combo haha.

All three were genuinely generously filled and really delicious! The mochi skin was chewy, and the combination of fruit, yogurt, and chocolate inside was really good. Highly recommend this place if you're looking for fruit mochi in Gyeongju. The red kiwi cream mochi and pineapple cream mochi are also popular items, so I'll definitely have to try those next time I'm in Gyeongju!
