Hwangnidang-gil fruit sando café in Gyeongju, noon sellout: Tareudang
In short
Tareudang is a fruit sando dessert café on the main alley of Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju. Arriving at Tareudang around 12 noon, some items were already sold out, but the peach, kiwi and mango fruit sando were still there, so all three could be tasted. If you want to pick across the whole lineup, going to Tareudang right at opening time is the surer bet.

Gyeongju is a wonderful travel destination that shows a new charm every time you visit. Wandering the gorgeous hanok streets and hunting down pretty cafés tucked into every alley might be the biggest joy of a Gyeongju trip.

On this Gyeongju trip too, I wandered along Hwangnidang-gil looking for good desserts, and ended up at Tareudang, a fruit sando specialty shop that's been getting super hot lately among Hwangnidang-gil food spots and dessert cafés.

I'd heard there was a new place among Gyeongju's food spots specializing in refreshing, sweet fruit sando, and I'd wanted to visit ever since before the trip.

Where is Tareudang? The main alley of Hwangnidang-gil
Walking along the main alley of Hwangnidang-gil in Gyeongju, you can easily spot Tareudang by its full-of-atmosphere exterior. The mix of Gyeongju's signature hanok feel and trendy interior made for a great Instagram-worthy photo spot right from the entrance.

What was already sold out at 12 noon
We hurried a bit to not miss out on the good desserts and arrived at Tareudang around noon. But the moment we stepped inside, we were surprised — even at noon, some items had already sold out.

Even though it wasn't long after opening, plenty of people had already come and bought up the popular items. It was a moment that really made me feel the massive popularity of this Hwangnidang-gil food spot and dessert hotspot.

It was a bit disappointing that some items were gone, but thankfully the peach, kiwi, and mango fruit sando we most wanted to try — the signature bestsellers — were still there, so we happily bought them. Seeing the colorful, prettily arranged fruit sando in the showcase made my mouth water and put me in a good mood instantly.

Three fruit sando flavors: peach, kiwi and mango
Tareudang's fruit sando stood out visually from the start. Big, fresh fruit was generously packed in, with smooth, nutty cream filling in between.

Peach fruit sando
First up was the peach fruit sando. The crisp yet sweet texture of peak-season peach was alive, and juice burst out with every bite. The not-too-sweet, nutty cream, chewy rice cake, and peach came together in perfect balance.

Kiwi fruit sando
Next was the kiwi fruit sando, and the sweet-tart flavor was excellent. A whole fresh kiwi was packed inside, bursting with freshness, so there was zero heaviness, and the pairing with the sweet cream was better than expected. Even people who don't usually enjoy dessert could enjoy this cleanly.

Mango fruit sando
Last was the mango fruit sando, and it was truly the ultimate in indulgence. The soft, sweet flavor of well-ripened apple mango melted in the mouth together with the smooth cream. The kids took one bite and said it was so good — they finished it off in a flash, it was that popular.

Fresh fruit, nutty cream and neat packaging
Tareudang's biggest strength is using fresh, whole fruit, and cream that's nutty rather than heavy at all. The fruit's natural sweetness was well brought out, so I could enjoy every last bite without getting tired of it. The packaging was also done carefully and neatly, making it great to eat while strolling Hwangnidang-gil or to buy as a gift.

Tips for getting Tareudang's fruit sando before it sells out
The biggest visit tip I picked up from this trip to Tareudang is timing. Its popularity is such that even arriving at noon like we did, some items are already sold out — so if you want to try all the fruit sando flavors, I strongly recommend arriving right at opening time. Even a little delay can mean your preferred flavor sells out early, so please keep this in mind.
- Recommended visit time: right after opening is best. Many items sell out around lunchtime (noon), so it's best to hurry.
- Recommended items: the peach, kiwi, and mango fruit sando combo is a crowd-pleasing bestseller that suits almost everyone.
- Packing tip: if you need to store it for a while, using cooler bag packing keeps it fresh and delicious even after a stroll through Hwangnidang-gil.
If you're planning a trip to Gyeongju or looking for a special, delicious dessert café, be sure to visit Tareudang, the fruit sando spot. Add some sweetness to your trip with the refreshing peach, kiwi, and mango fruit sando. It was a satisfying dessert spot I'd 100% visit again on my next Gyeongju trip.
