A generous Daegu restaurant where you get free ramyeon and bingsu thrown in — Bongja Makchang Daegu Jongno Branch
There's already a location of this place near my neighborhood that I love, so when I heard a new one opened on Jongno, I couldn't not go!! Headed there straight away with a friend, go go go

Where is Bongja Makchang Daegu Jongno Branch, and what is it like inside?
Bongja Makchang Daegu Jongno Branch is right in the alley in Jung-gu, Daegu that's packed with barbecue restaurants, so it was super easy to find!!
Since it's a hot new spot that just opened, both the outside and inside were spotless, which made it even better!!!

As expected of a popular place, the waiting area was great too — plenty of chairs!

The inside looks like this~! Lots of big tables, so it seemed like a perfect Jung-gu, Daegu spot for a group dinner too [Bongja Makchang Daegu Jongno Branch]

How the free self-serve ramyeon corner works
And the thing you absolutely have to eat at Bongja Makchang — the free self-serve ramyeon (instant noodles)!!! So many kinds of ramyeon, and they thoughtfully set out steel pots too :) There's even a note on how to cook the ramyeon perfectly

One set for two: the raw makchang and pork belly spread
We grabbed a seat and ordered fast :) The scallion salad and side dishes came out right away

The meat came out super quickly too!! Hahaha, busy busy — the staff even threw the seasoned bean sprouts onto the grill the moment it arrived. Such a nice touch, seriously give them a gold star👏

Honestly it looked exactly like the photo on the menu haha
Pork belly and makchang together — need I say more :) And bracken fern grilled alongside makes it even tastier!

Why the self-cook ramyeon with kimchi is worth trying
While the meat was grilling, we set up the ramyeon too!!! We had them cook it with kimchi thrown in >< since it's self-serve, you can cook it exactly to your taste, which made it even better!!!
I seriously recommend adding kimchi or bean sprouts when you cook it!!!

Ahh... the visual was seriously the best ㅠㅠ there's no way this doesn't taste good ㅠㅠㅠㅠ Enough to leave two people stuffed, with flavor that's just as crazy good — Bongja Makchang Daegu Jongno Branch, a real Jung-gu, Daegu spot!!!

How the pork belly and raw makchang taste
The pork belly is already delicious plain, but it's great with the scallion salad and great wrapped in lettuce too!
It also pairs surprisingly well with the makjang dipping sauce, so it's good just dipped plain too!

And here it is, the star of Bongja Makchang! The raw makchang is tender with zero off smell — exactly my kind of makchang, ㅠㅠ totally my taste
Dip it in the sauce and it's the best!
And on top of that, pairing it with the freshly bubbling ramyeon is the icing on the cake!! Eating meat and makchang, then taking a sip of the broth in between — totally refreshing :)

Full without ordering a single side: the value at Bongja Makchang
Honestly I was wondering whether we should order more sides, but since you get free ramyeon too, just one set was enough to leave us completely stuffed — best value ever at Bongja Makchang ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

Ahh... you really have to add kimchi to it — refreshing, spicy, seriously the best!!

Finishing with the free red bean bingsu
Whew... we were full but couldn't pass this up — finishing with the bingsu made it perfect!
There wasn't much in it, but somehow it was so good — I polished off a whole bowl hahaha
This Jung-gu, Daegu spot [Bongja Makchang Daegu Jongno Branch] is a great place for a group dinner or a gathering with friends and family, so
if you're craving the makchang and pork belly combo, definitely go check it out!! That's the end of the review :) Feat. the owner was also seriously so kind ㅠㅠ — sprayed Febreze for us at the end and even gave us candy(?)🫶
