New Daegu café on Bongsan Culture Street: truffle ricotta at Dento

What kind of café is Dento?

I heard there was a new brunch café in Bongsan-dong, so I went to check out Dento. They've got easy brunch options — sandwiches, soup, French toast — but what really got me was the open sandwich where you can try five flavors at once, so cute! The space is pretty too, so let me introduce it for anyone looking for a new brunch café in Daegu.

Location and parking: in the Bongsan Culture Street café alley

Dento sits in the alley deep inside Bongsan Culture Street where the cafés cluster together. You can walk there from Gyeongdae Hospital Station, and it's also within walking distance from Banwoldang Station. Good spot to swing by during a Bongsan-dong café tour.

Unfortunately there's no dedicated parking lot. If you're driving, you'll need to use a nearby paid lot, so on busy days like weekends I'd recommend checking parking options before you head over.

Café atmosphere and seating

The exterior is adorable from the outside. ˗ˋˏ ♡ ˎˊ˗ The sign and overall vibe feel like a little brunch café tucked in a small European alley — the kind of place that makes you stop and stare while walking by.

Inside, colorful furniture mixes with vintage-y decor, but it doesn't feel overdone — more like a cozy, charming space.

Seating is about three 3-person tables, two 4-person tables, and one 2-person table. Overall it's not a big café. The window seats get nice natural light, so they were popular too, of course.

My personal pick is the 4-person table right by the counter! I imagine it'd look even prettier when the sunlight is streaming in. It really felt like the kind of new Daegu café that fits the current Bongsan-dong vibe.

What's on Dento's menu?

Dento is less of a coffee-only café and more of a place to enjoy brunch. They have proper meal options like sandwiches, soup, and classic French toast. Drinks include drip coffee, tea, lemonade, grapefruit juice, and even beer and wine.

That said, the coffee menu only has one type — drip coffee — so if you're hoping to choose from a variety of espresso-based drinks, that might be a bit of a letdown.

Five bite-size open sandwiches and iced drip coffee

I ordered iced drip coffee and the five bite-size open sandwiches.

Such a cute sandwich ♡⁼³₌₃ Each little baguette slice has different toppings, so the colors are vibrant and it photographs really well.

The lineup: pan con tomate, avocado salmon, romesco roasted vegetables, shrimp rémoulade, and truffle ricotta. Five in total.

The staff recommended starting with pan con tomate and finishing with truffle ricotta. I think it's arranged so the flavor and aroma get stronger toward the end.

Instead of eating one whole sandwich, you get to taste a little bit of each different topping, which made it fun to eat. My pick was, unsurprisingly, the truffle ricotta. The truffle aroma really hits at the end and pairs so well with the soft ricotta — this was the tastiest one for me!

That said, since it's drip coffee, it's overall clean and light. If you're like me and prefer a strong espresso-style coffee, it might taste a bit weak^_ㅠ......

Would I go back?

This is a Daegu brunch café I'd want to revisit on a day I feel like eating a light sandwich in a pretty space. It was fun getting to enjoy a variety of flavors instead of just one type of sandwich, and the atmosphere was great too — this seems like a good fit for anyone hunting for a new café in Bongsan-dong. Next time I want to try a different sandwich along with an Aperol spritz.
