What kind of restaurant is Gyeomson Donkatsu Geomdan Branch?

There's a go-to donkatsu (pork cutlet) spot my other half and I always hit up around Geomdan and Gimpo :D Especially when they're craving old-style pork cutlet, this Geomdan favorite, Gyeomson Donkatsu, is the answer. Honestly their Japanese-style katsu dishes are also really good, but the old-style pork cutlet is so delicious we keep coming back. Time to go get our regular donkatsu fix. We'd actually been a few times before but never got around to reviewing most of those visits (oops). It's close to Majeon Station too, and since there are a lot of apartment complexes nearby, it draws a lot of families as well.

Storefront, parking and the Sunday lunch crowd at Gyeomson Donkatsu

There are several restaurants near this Geomdan favorite, and right out front there's a shared public parking lot anyone can use. I think most people visit without worrying about parking.

When we visited for Sunday lunch, the place was already packed. Mostly families, from the looks of it haha. Gyeomson Donkatsu is popular for dining in, but delivery orders were also going out nonstop.

There's a menu board out front so you can check before going in. From special sirloin, sirloin, tenderloin, and cheese katsu to udon and cold buckwheat noodles, there's a wide range of main dishes, and you can also add an extra piece of tenderloin or cheese katsu. What we ordered: old-style pork cutlet, ₩14,000 (my other half's pick), and cold buckwheat noodles, ₩11,000, plus an added tenderloin piece, ₩4,500 (mine).

Old-school pork cutlet, 14,000 won with soup refills

Order a katsu dish and it comes with rice and curry, but the old-style pork cutlet comes with soup instead. And get this — aside from the cutlet itself, the banchan, salad, rice, and even the soup are all refillable @_@

Smooth soup. Sprinkle a bit of pepper in first to coat your stomach — and the dressing on the cabbage salad is also really good.

A generous serving of black rice too, and pickled onions and diced radish kimchi, the perfect donkatsu sidekicks.

These days there are so many Japanese-style katsu specialty restaurants around, but this is a great Geomdan favorite for anyone like my other half who loves old-style pork cutlet. Everything here feels perfect, from the cutlet itself to the sauce :D The sauce isn't greasy at all, so you can dip it generously and it's still absolutely delicious!

Crispy outside, juicy inside — no need to say more. Made with domestic pork aged for 14 days, so it's not only juicy but genuinely tender in texture.

Cold buckwheat noodles, 11,000 won, plus a 4,500 won tenderloin cutlet

I was craving buckwheat noodles lately, so I went with the cold version — but you can't skip the tenderloin cutlet here, so I added a piece.

The cold buckwheat noodles, full of icy shards, were an explosion of savory flavor — the late-summer heat was still lingering that day and it was pretty hot, but this completely washed the heat away.

If you visit this Geomdan favorite Gyeomson Donkatsu, definitely try the cold buckwheat noodles too! They pair really well with the pork cutlet, so sharing both is a great idea.

The added tenderloin piece — good to order if you feel like your noodles or udon need a little something extra, or to add on top of any other dish.

Dip it right into the sauce that comes with it, yum. Tenderloin is delicious no matter when you eat it ㅠㅠ it just melts, so soft.

I first tried Gyeomson Donkatsu in Gimpo and fell for it, and ever since it opened in Geomdan, I've kept coming back — steadily, again and again. A Geomdan, Incheon favorite that's delicious every single time. Japanese-style katsu, old-style pork cutlet, buckwheat noodles — a true, reliable favorite where you can't go wrong.
