Sindorim jokbal set with a 4-year-old inside Homeplus: Sambaekga

In short

Sindorim Sambaekga is a jokbal (braised pig's trotters), bossam and kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup) restaurant on the first floor of the Homeplus building at Sindorim Station in Guro, Seoul. After a weekend morning at the history museum, this family ordered the Sambaek Jokbal + Kalguksu set with a 4-year-old: the jokbal was soft and springy, and the adults drained the kalguksu broth made from 12 ingredients. Dining at Sindorim Sambaekga adds 2 hours of Homeplus parking, which makes it an easy weekend meal out with a small child.

We spent a weekend morning at the history museum with our kid, then came to Sindorim Sambaekga for a good lunch. Our 4-year-old wanted kalguksu (hand-cut noodle soup), and the adults were craving jokbal (Korean braised pig's trotters) — spoiler: both were delicious, and the whole family left stuffed. 😋

Parking at Sindorim Sambaekga: can you use the Homeplus lot?

Yes, just park in the Homeplus lot, no worries at all! The building is huge, so parking is really not something you need to stress about.

They add 2 extra hours if you dine in, so we had plenty of time and it was really convenient. 👍

Where Sindorim Sambaekga is and how long the wait was

Once you park and come up to the first floor, you'll see the Sambaekga storefront.

Since it's such a famous spot, I wondered if the space might be cramped... but it was actually bigger than I expected!

Seeing every seat packed, I thought — this is definitely a real local favorite. We had a bit of a wait when we arrived too, but it was very short — just about 2 minutes before we were seated.

The wall spells out exactly what brand philosophy and what ingredients they use, which instantly boosted my trust in the place.

Ordering kiosk on the table

You order right from the kiosk at each table. The home screen reads 'jokbal in a class of its own' — and honestly, it really is. 🙃🙃

The Sambaek Jokbal + Kalguksu set, ordered with a 4-year-old

My spouse and I wanted jokbal, and our kid loves kalguksu, so the Sambaek Jokbal + Kalguksu set was the perfect combo order. Looking at the menu, I already decided we have to try the bossam set next time. 😊

Three banchan and a refill of persimmon geotjeori

The side dishes came out first! Chive muchim, persimmon kimchi, and dried radish strips — 3 banchan plus 3 sauces.

Three basic banchan: chive muchim, persimmon kimchi, dried radish strips
Basic banchan made with real care

The banchan were genuinely fresh. Chives usually wilt if they're mixed ahead of time, but these were clearly just made — really crisp. The wall said the kimchi and dried radish strips are made in-house with Korean ingredients, and you can absolutely taste it! (Six years as a homemaker talking here~) The homemade persimmon geotjeori was so good we asked for a refill and ate it all again. 😋

How the Sambaek Jokbal and the garlic sauce tasted

Then came the moment we'd been waiting for — the jokbal. The look of it alone was no joke!

Our kid saw the plate and asked, "What's this?" — so we explained it was jokbal.

Chewy, springy, and generously portioned jokbal

It looked tender and chewy just from the sight of it, and one bite in, it was on a completely different level from the usual delivery-only jokbal joints. ㅠㅠㅠㅠ

A 4-year-old eating jokbal
Sambaekga's jokbal clearly agreed with our 4-year-old's taste too

We debated where to go all morning, but coming here turned out to be the best decision of our whole Saturday!

Three sauces: ssamjang, garlic, and salted shrimp
Sauces: ssamjang, garlic, salted shrimp

It's delicious plain, but of the 3 sauces, I liked the garlic sauce in the middle the best. Dip it however suits your taste!!

I also tried it with ssamjang, and the meat was really tender — apparently it's Yaggampork raised on Sangju persimmons, developed after research by a chef from Chosun Hotel, and you could really tell it's a cut above.💓

100% fresh noodles and a kalguksu broth from 12 ingredients

While we were eating the jokbal, the kalguksu arrived. True to its reputation as a Sindorim favorite, it uses 100% fresh-cut noodles. The noodles were really chewy!

They say the broth is made with 12 ingredients, and the flavor really was deep and clean.

Mom, take out the cucumber! That's not cucumber, sweetie, it's zucchini!

I scooped some into a small plate for our kid. It must have been tasty, because they ate about double the usual amount. 😝

Curly, chewy kalguksu noodles
A slight curl means chewier, tastier noodles!

We ordered it mainly for our kid, but... the broth was so good that in the end, the adults finished off every last drop themselves.

Final verdict on Sindorim Sambaekga

Since they make all the geotjeori, dried-radish bossam kimchi, and eolgali baek-kimchi by hand in-house, you could feel the care in every single dish!

Sindorim Sambaekga satisfied both adult and kid palates, so we're already planning to come back soon. 🤗!!!
