In short

Bubuduri Tteokbokki is a snack bar that serves alcohol in Bongmyeong-dong, Cheongju, right in front of the Bongmyeong I'Park bus stop in the middle of the food alley. Stopping in late for a second round, the writer ordered chapssundae (glutinous rice blood sausage) and fried potatoes with soju, and the owner added tteokbokki on the house to complete the spread. Open until 3:30am, Bubuduri Tteokbokki is an easy, low-key choice for a second round in Bongmyeong-dong.

We visited fairly late as our second stop, and I was surprised the place was already packed with customers. The interior was spacious with plenty of tables, so it was comfortable and not cramped at all ✨

Bubuduri Tteokbokki's snack menu for a casual second round

The menu at Bubuduri Tteokbokki Bongmyeong branch was really varied, from their signature duri tteokbokki to gourmet tteokbokki, rosé, and mala lines! On top of that, they had all kinds of crispy fried items like squid, pepper, and vegetable tempura, plus fish cake (odeng) and sorbet dessert — a perfect lineup whether for a first or second round 👏🏻

Since we'd already had a first round before coming, we ordered chapssundae and fried potatoes to keep things light and not too filling!

There was a neatly set up self-serve bar on one side of the restaurant! You could freely grab pickled radish, utensils, small plates, and even hot, rich fish cake broth as much as you wanted — it was great. Having a warm broth side dish to help settle your stomach automatically included on a second-round visit made the whole experience even more satisfying 🙌🏻

Chapssundae, fried potatoes and soju at Bubuduri Tteokbokki

Soon our chapssundae and fried potatoes arrived ✨ The kind owner even surprised us with a little extra tteokbokki on the house…

Glossy, chewy chapssundae, golden savory fried potatoes, and now spicy-sweet tteokbokki on top — it truly made for the perfect second-round spread!

How does the chapssundae taste?

True to its name, the chapssundae had zero gamey smell and was wonderfully sticky and delicious, with chewy texture that was just artful 👍🏻

Dipping it in the tteokbokki the owner gave us for free made it incredibly good! It came with soft, non-dry organ meat pieces too, making it a perfectly easy pick-up bite as a drinking snack 👏🏻

Fried potatoes: crisp outside, soft inside

The freshly fried potatoes were hot and crispy, a textbook case of crispy-outside-soft-inside! They were a great salty snack on their own, but dipping them lightly in the tteokbokki sauce combined the crunch with the spicy-sweet flavor for a real treat 🙌🏻

The complimentary tteokbokki had soft rice cakes fully soaked in sauce — cutting it into smaller pieces with scissors and scooping it up with the sauce made it even tastier and addictive ✨ It was really satisfying to enjoy affordable, delicious snacks for our second round!
