I was craving snack food in Bongmyeong-dong, Cheongju and went looking for a tteokbokki place — Bubuduri Tteokbokki's Bongmyeong branch showed up on my radar!
Bubuduri Tteokbokki Bongmyeong branch ⏰ Mon–Wed 11:00–02:30 / Fri–Sat 11:00–03:30 / Closed Sundays

When I think of a tteokbokki place, I usually picture somewhere you just grab a quick snack and leave.

But this place sells everything from draft beer to soju, so it's a slightly more grown-up (?) snack bar, good for having a drink with your tteokbokki and fried snacks.

This time we ordered mala tteokbokki, chewy sundae, and Bubu fried snacks — I loved the combo, and especially how well fried snacks go with a draft beer, so let me introduce it to anyone looking for late-night food in Bongmyeong-dong.
What kind of snack bar is Bubuduri Tteokbokki Bongmyeong branch?
Bubuduri Tteokbokki Bongmyeong branch is a snack bar on a street in Bongmyeong-dong, stocked with the basics — tteokbokki, sundae (blood sausage), fried snacks, and eomuk (fish cake). Ordering tteokbokki for delivery is great, but sometimes you just want to eat it fresh off the stove at the store. I love market-style tteokbokki, and I'd always walked past Bubuduri Tteokbokki Bongmyeong branch, so I finally stopped in.

The cooking counter where everything is being deliciously prepared.

Fried snacks fried up nice and crispy.

You can easily place a takeout order at the kiosk.

A snack bar that even has a draft beer machine — they sell draft beer too!!!

Looked like it's also a nice place that participates in donations! A good-hearted Bongmyeong-dong snack bar.

Even the seated dining area inside has a tablet, so you just browse the menu and pick!

Bubuduri Tteokbokki menu and self-serve bar
The menu at Bubuduri Tteokbokki Bongmyeong branch has so many options it took me a while to choose. I also flipped through the menu booklet next to me.

Help yourself: pickled radish, soy sauce, salt and fish cake broth
At the self-serve bar you can grab pickled radish, salt, soy sauce, and fish cake broth yourself!
How did the fire tteokbokki, sundae and fried snack platter taste?
The tteokbokki we chose was Bubuduri's fire tteokbokki! Regular tteokbokki is great too, but if you're into mala flavors these days, and my boyfriend, who loves fire chicken flavor, couldn't pass it up — we went back and forth between original and fire, and picked fire haha!
Look how smooth and bouncy it looks!? It was really chewy!

The texture wasn't mushy at all — bouncy and delicious~
I wanted a beer... but carbs plus beer... I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Fried snacks really are best eaten in-store while they're still crispy, I think.
Hearty squid fritters, moist glass noodle gimmari (fried seaweed roll).

The fried snacks are good on their own, but dipping them in the mala tteokbokki sauce added a spicy kick to the crispy fritters — delicious! Just note the fried snacks are seasoned fairly strongly on their own. I didn't even need the soy sauce, they were plenty salty.

Chewy sundae (blood sausage) at Bubuduri Tteokbokki
Once you order tteokbokki, sundae (blood sausage) can't be skipped. The chewy sundae we ordered alongside it was perfect for popping one piece at a time between bites of tteokbokki.

At a snack bar, I prefer not to eat tteokbokki alone but to order sundae and fried snacks too, so I can eat a little of each in turns.
And you can't leave out the classic snack-bar combo of dipping sundae lightly in the tteokbokki sauce. The pickled radish was thinly sliced too, which I liked.

Is Bubuduri Tteokbokki worth it for late-night eats or a second round?
Having visited in person, Bubuduri Tteokbokki Bongmyeong branch felt like almost too good a place to just think of as somewhere you grab tteokbokki and leave. You can put together a full spread with mala tteokbokki, chewy sundae, and Bubu fried snacks, and add draft beer on top for a proper late-night vibe!!!!
They sell soju as well as draft beer, so it should also suit anyone who wants a drink with tteokbokki broth, sundae, and fried snacks as anju (drinking snacks). Setting down one mala tteokbokki with sundae and fried snacks on the side made for a good light drinking session. In particular, the fried snacks plus draft beer combo was the thing I liked most about this place!
If you're looking for a great tteokbokki spot in Bongmyeong-dong, Cheongju, or want a slightly different late-night meal or second-round spot in Bongmyeong-dong, how about some snack food at Bubuduri Tteokbokki Bongmyeong branch!!!!!
