My friend Meonji, Jinseon-eonni and I went out for some fresh air at Pyeonbaek Hoegwan Main Branch (｡•ω•｡) We'd heard it's a place where you can enjoy all-you-can-eat beef with both cypress-wood steamed beef and shabu-shabu, so the three of us went in with high expectations.

The building itself is big, so it wasn't hard to find.

Pyeonbaek Hoegwan has been on several TV shows, so it looked familiar somehow!

The restaurant is spacious and has a separate playroom, so it seemed like a comfortable spot for families with kids too. As you'd expect from an all-you-can-eat beef spot, there was plenty of room between tables, so the three of us could sit and chat comfortably :)

Pyeonbaek Hoegwan is a place where you can enjoy both cypress-wood steamed beef and shabu-shabu, all-you-can-eat. During lunch hours it's only ₩17,900 with no break time, so the value was really good too.

What's on the salad bar?

The salad bar had meat and vegetables of course, but also a separate section just for rice-paper roll (Vietnamese-style spring roll) ingredients.

There was even tteokbokki (spicy stir-fried rice cakes), spaghetti, soup and bread on the side, so alongside all-you-can-eat beef we got to enjoy plenty of side dishes too.

As we kept picking this and that, our plates filled up fast (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و Being able to enjoy so much variety in one meal doubled the fun of eating and talking together.

How was the cypress-steamed beef?

It had been a really long time since I'd had cypress-steamed beef, and the meat was so tender with no gamey smell at all — genuinely delicious.

Whatever ingredients we ran low on, we just grabbed more from the salad bar. Wrapping the cypress-steamed beef in rice paper with the fresh veggies was truly the best combination!

After the cypress steam, it's shabu-shabu time

Once we finished the cypress-steamed beef, we asked for shabu-shabu and they brought out the broth we'd picked earlier right away, along with plenty of vegetables from the salad bar to fill it up.

For the shabu-shabu, we lightly blanched thin-sliced beef in the broth and ate it with vegetables — we couldn't stop reaching for more. True to the all-you-can-eat beef concept, we didn't have to worry about portions and the three of us ate until we were completely full (๑˃̵ᴗ˂̵)و
