Yeouido IFC Mall snack restaurant, outdoor seats: Hyeonseonine

In short

Hyeonseonine Premium IFC Mall Branch is a Korean snack restaurant in the underground passage that links Yeouido Station Exit 3 to IFC Mall and The Hyundai Seoul in Seoul. On a weekday lunch visit, the Hyeonseoni Set at 23,000 won was ordered on medium spice, arriving all at once with tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes), assorted fried snacks, sundae (Korean blood sausage) and mini gimbap — easily enough for two to share. If you plan on instant tteokbokki simmered at the table, take an indoor seat, because the outdoor tables at Hyeonseonine have no induction burner.

If you're shopping around Yeouido and want something quick, I'd recommend Hyeonseonine Tteokbokki! I visited on a weekday lunch and, this being Yeouido, the place was packed with office workers. I hadn't planned to go there at all — I was heading toward The Hyundai when I spotted the tteokbokki on the moving walkway and just got pulled in, haha.

Being able to eat tteokbokki, sundae, fried snacks, and gimbap all at once made it a surprisingly satisfying Yeouido lunch :)

How to find Hyeonseonine in the Yeouido IFC Mall underground passage

The location is really convenient. Get off at Yeouido Station on Line 5 or 9, head toward Exit 3, and you'll find an underground passage connecting IFC Mall all the way to The Hyundai Seoul.

Hyeonseonine sits right along that route, before you reach the IFC Mall entrance. A big plus is that you don't need to step outside at all, rain or shine!

The shop has a clean, casual restaurant feel, with indoor tables plus outdoor seating right beside the storefront. It's a great setup whether you're grabbing lunch with coworkers or eating solo!

On the weekday lunch I visited, it was pretty busy, but it looked manageable if you avoid peak time. One tip though: if you're planning to order instant tteokbokki, go for an indoor seat — the outdoor tables don't have induction burners.

Hyeonseonine's menu and what comes in the 23,000-won Hyeonseoni Set

Hyeonseonine has apparently been running for 20 years, and it's not just a tteokbokki spot — the menu also covers sundae, mini gimbap, assorted fried snacks, ramyeon, rice bowls, and instant tteokbokki, so there's quite a lot of variety.

They have a good range of set menus too, which made ordering easy! We went with the Hyeonseoni Set for 23,000 won — tteokbokki, fried snacks, sundae, and gimbap all together — which was perfect for two people who wanted to sample a bit of everything.

How spicy is medium-spice tteokbokki at Hyeonseonine?

You can choose the tteokbokki spice level — mild, medium, half-and-half, or spicy — so we went with medium.

I'm not great with spice either, and medium was just the right kind of spicy for me! What I noticed right away is that it's not just a sweet tteokbokki — it's sweet and spicy with a bit of a sharp kick afterward, and there was plenty of sauce, which was great for dipping the fried snacks.

The rice cakes weren't overcooked and stayed nice and chewy, and the fish cakes were tasty too. Looking at these photos again, I'm drooling, haha.

Honest review of the Hyeonseoni Set: fried snacks, sundae and mini gimbap

A plate of assorted fried snacks from the Hyeonseoni Set

What I was secretly looking forward to was the assorted fried snacks. It came with vegetable fritters, fried dumplings, kimmari (seaweed rolls), squid, sweet potato, and more — the batter wasn't overly thick or greasy, so the snacks stayed crispy.

The vegetable fritters in particular were packed with different veggies, so each bite was crispy outside and slightly sweet inside. The fried dumplings and kimmari were good on their own, but dipping them into the tteokbokki sauce was the best, haha.

You could choose whether to include the organs with the sundae, and we went with the default. The sundae was moist and had good chew, packed with filling, and dipping it lightly in the tteokbokki sauce worked really well. The organs came included too, so if you're into sundae organs, the default order should satisfy you!

The mini gimbap had a simple, familiar style with egg and pickled radish inside. It's not a flashy gimbap, but popping one in your mouth while eating the spicy tteokbokki helped neutralize the heat, which fit really well into the set.

And the broth is a treat on its own! Sipping it now and then between bites made the whole meal even more appetizing, haha.

Overall, the Hyeonseoni Set is a great choice for a day when you want tteokbokki, sundae, and fried snacks all at once, rather than just tteokbokki alone.

If you're around Yeouido IFC Mall or The Hyundai Seoul and want something quick and tasty instead of a big meal, especially if you like tteokbokki, this place is worth a stop.

They're also running a review event where you get a free fried snack or savory mayo rice ball for leaving a review on Naver, Google, or Daum — worth checking out if you visit :)
