Good food is often remembered more after you've finished eating than while you're eating it, right? Today I want to introduce a real Asan restaurant that isn't just another meal out — it's the kind of warm, special meal your whole family will remember for a long time. There's no better place for a family gathering with parents or for restoring your health than 'Oneungi Shabu Baeksuk.' Let's get into the review!

Parking and menu prices at Oneungi Shabu Baeksuk in Eumbong, Asan
Designated a Good Price shop, an Asan-certified restaurant, a Model Restaurant, and listed in the Blue Ribbon Survey — it already screams 'real Asan restaurant'!! And on top of that, there's a large open-lot parking area, so parking is easy too >.< haha
- Neungi duck baeksuk ₩79,000
- Neungi chicken baeksuk ₩79,000
- Neungi samgyetang ₩15,000
- Other add-ons include chapssal (sticky rice), squid pancake, extra mushrooms, and alcohol is also available.

How the signature neungi nurungji duck baeksuk is made
What our family ordered was the restaurant's signature dish, neungi nurungji duck baeksuk (₩75,000). What makes this place special: they simmer eomnamu (Kalopanax) and kkujippong (mulberry) branches — cut and dried before spring — for hours, and boil fresh neungi mushroom broth every single day. Apparently a single pot of baeksuk takes a full 4 hours to prepare, so it's not just a health tonic — it's packed with the kind of care that goes into looking after family. Even the chapssal (sticky rice) placed on top isn't ordinary; it's cooked in the special broth, giving it an unusually savory, clean flavor.

After working through the side dishes one by one, the long-awaited neungi nurungji duck baeksuk finally arrived!!! Look at that deep, rich broth color under its blanket of golden-brown nurungji (scorched rice).

How many people does it serve?
The earthenware pot is genuinely huge! The portion is really big, so three adults can easily eat their fill. There was plenty of neungi mushroom in it too, and the duck pieces were big and really tender.
After eating, my stomach felt settled and my body warmed right up. There's really no better health-boosting meal than neungi nurungji duck baeksuk!
Premium birthday-table reservation perks, great for family gatherings
One reason Oneungi Shabu Baeksuk is especially famous for family gatherings is this 'premium birthday table' perk! Book in advance and you get an incredible amount of service. (There's also a discount if you reserve through Naver, so don't miss that!)

- A heartfelt birthday table setting with fresh flowers
- An extra plate of precious neungi mushroom and a complimentary squid-chive pancake
- Birthday seaweed soup and an on-the-spot birthday photo shoot
The private room (worth ₩50,000, free with reservation) even comes equipped with a 75-inch TV, so it looks great for playing a commemorative video for your parents or child while you throw a heartfelt birthday party! It's a true Asan restaurant where the whole family gets to feel properly taken care of. Singing 'Happy Birthday' together is a must 🎶

Good Price Shop, Safe Restaurant certification, and warm giving back
Looking at the restaurant's wall, I noticed that the owner donates 100 servings of neungi bangyetang (half-chicken soup) every month to places like the Asan Senior Welfare Center. Apparently they've donated over 3,434 servings so far — it really felt like that warmth was dissolved right into the broth. On top of that, it's designated a 'Good Price Shop' by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and a 'Safe Restaurant' by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, so it scores full marks on price and hygiene too.
For those who can't make it to the restaurant, the same recipe is also sold nationwide as a meal kit that's ready in just 20 minutes of boiling, in case that's useful!
From the healthy, deeply flavorful neungi nurungji duck baeksuk to the touching birthday event perks and the owner's warm-hearted mindset, this was a perfect meal. If you're planning a special meal out with the people you love, this is an Asan restaurant I'd recommend without hesitation!
