Plate in Sunhwa-dong, Daejeon is where I go whenever I'm craving pasta. I fell for it the first time I ate here and have kept coming back ever since haha. The vibe is great too, so it's basically a date spot in Sunhwa-dong.

How long is the wait at Plate? Arrive at opening and there is none
Plate in Sunhwa-dong, Daejeon apparently makes its own fresh pasta noodles in-house! If you visit during peak hours there's a wait, so I did an opening run… haha.
🗣️How the waitlist works — if there's a line, write your name at the CatchTable kiosk by the entrance and staff will call you when your table is ready.

Inside Plate: about six tables and low, dim lighting
Once inside, there's even a guestbook from past visitors. The interior is a cozy spot with about 6 tables, and the atmosphere is so good it feels perfect for a special occasion. That dim lighting is just the vibe haha.
The open kitchen adds to the mood, and as soon as you sit down they turn on the table lamp for you — such a nice touch! Bring your girlfriend here and you'll score points.

Plate's menu and how to choose your noodle
This is the menu at Plate, the Western restaurant in Sunhwa-dong, Daejeon. The menu is split into pasta / shareable dishes / steak, and there are also budget-friendly set menus for both pasta and steak. They even have gnocchi, which made me so happy haha.

You can pick the pasta noodle that matches your menu and taste, which was really unique (there's also a recommended noodle option, so beginners can manage too). Noodles split into fresh pasta and dry pasta.
- Fresh: spaghetti / spinach spaghetti / squid ink spaghetti / tagliatelle / pappardelle / picci
- Dry: linguine / penne / fusilli / farfalle / conchiglie / rigatoni — think of these as shaped dried noodles
There's also a promotion running, so pay attention~ 1) ₩1,000 off when paying ₩20,000 or more in cash (bank transfer) 2) a free truffle ice cream for leaving a Naver photo/receipt review.

The two pastas ordered at Plate, 15,900 won each
✔️Steak cream ragù (₩15,900) — a deeply flavorful pasta pairing soft cream ragù with steak. ✔️Uni & scallop fresh oil pasta (₩15,900) — an elevated oil pasta with the ocean fragrance of scallop and uni still alive.
The pasta was so good last time that today I ordered two pasta dishes ^_^ I went with the recommended noodle for both!!

What the steak cream ragù tastes like
The steak cream ragù had a soft, thick cream ragù sauce clinging heavily to the noodles, giving it a rich, savory flavor that really delivered. Big chunks of steak turned up here and there, adding meaty flavor and making the whole dish filling and delicious! Yes to the combo of creamy softness and deep ragù umami.

What the uni and scallop fresh oil pasta tastes like
The scallop and uni fresh oil pasta had that signature bouncy, chewy texture of fresh noodles, plus scallop on top — great from the first bite✨ The rich, savory ocean flavor of the uni came through gently, and the oil sauce tied everything together cleanly, so it was light and easy to eat. Eating the scallop and uni together really brought the flavor to life — this combo was seriously the answer haha.

Is Plate worth going back to?
Both dishes were so good I cleaned my plate haha. Once dinnertime hits, the wait starts!! If you hate waiting, I'd recommend doing an opening run as much as possible. Great atmosphere, great food — a restaurant that left me satisfied.
