Salon Of Gangseo Branch is on the second floor opposite the BYC building in Gangseo-dong—five minutes on foot from Cheongju Hyundai Connect, six minutes on foot from the Cheongju Intercity Bus Terminal, and 10 minutes by car from Hyundai Department Store Chungcheong. It’s very easy to get to! The salon was bigger and more open than I expected, which was nice. Such a clean atmosphere~ I had made a Naver Booking, so they checked my name and showed me in as soon as I arrived. Tidying damaged hair and unruly layers

Before the perm! I had hippie perms for a while, then layered cuts for a while, and after dyeing my hair twice this summer, it was pretty damaged.. It tangled whenever I washed and brushed it, and I was told those tangles were all damage. 🥲 And I only realized how random my layers were after taking these photos.

Designer Doa cleaned up the layers that had broken off in chunks and cut them into neat, natural layers. She asked what shampoo and hair products I usually use, then explained how to use products suited to my hair condition! I’d been using a scalp shampoo lately, and apparently its cleansing power is strong enough to dry out hair.. No wonder.. it had been so dry.. She recommended using scalp shampoo only two or three times a week. (As soon as I got home, I took out another shampoo too haha)

Can fine hair get a natural volume perm?

While the neutralizer was processing and my hair was drying~ I waited with an iced coffee~ A relaxing hair appointment for the first time in a while 🧡 My hair is fine, so I wondered whether a natural-looking perm would turn out well. Volume matters most to me, so I’d always gone for strong perms; this was my first try at a style this natural! Designer Doa was so kind, checking throughout to see whether it was too hot or whether I was uncomfortable! Her hands are really quick, and she explains everything in detail, too.

Long-hair C-curl + S-curl results with added volume

A much neater, more polished hairstyle is complete~ I wanted a curl-heavy style like a cloud perm or rain perm, but with my heavily layered cut, I couldn’t get one just yet! (I decided to grow it out a bit more first 🙂) So instead of a layered-cut C-curl perm, we went with C-curls plus S-curls for more volume, and I absolutely loved the result.

The perm lets my fringe fall naturally to the side, so it looks natural whether I wear my hair down or tie it up. If you want volume, I really, really recommend an S-curl + C-curl treatment. It gives a more feminine, calm feel. I’m so satisfied with the natural curls—they look like I styled them with a curling iron! So satisfied with this grown-up fall look!
