The day I needed to remove my gel pedicure and get a new one before my trip

I’m planning a trip to Australia this month, so I thought it was time to change my pedicure before then. I kept meaning to remove my previous one, but I had ended up wearing it for almost 3 months.. haha

This time, while looking for a good-value gel pedicure place, I found Byuazeu Hongdae Nail, Lashes & Skincare in Hongdae. I loved the September featured art, and the price was affordable too—best of all, color changes were free! They’re also currently running an event for free removal of gel nails done at other salons, so it could be worth visiting if you need gel removal.

Gel removal can be surprisingly expensive, right? 😭 It seemed even better for people like me who need their existing gel pedicure removed too 👍

Other treatments and the tidy salon

Byuazeu offers not only nails, but also pedicure planning, lash extensions, skincare, and various other treatments. When I went inside, one wall was covered with so many licenses and completion certificates. Seeing that it has been steadily operating since opening in 2018 made it feel even more trustworthy—it seems to have been loved for a long time :) There was also a skincare-treatment area to one side, and it was neatly organized!

I get lash extensions too, so next time I thought it could be nice to get my lashes done along with my nails in one visit :)

I arrived a little before my appointment and waited briefly! They said I could choose any drink I wanted while waiting :) I like sikhye (sweet rice punch), so I chose one without rice grains.

This was the state of my pedicure before my appointment! It had grown out so much, right? 😂 I’d been wearing it for almost 3 months.. haha

The nail area was so clean and well organized too! The charms, especially, were all sorted into separate categories so precisely, haha.

There were so many different nail designs! The one that really caught my eye was a design that any idol fan would probably want to try, haha. It featured the face of your favorite singer on the nail, and I was amazed by how detailed it was!

From testing magnetic-nail pedicure colors to the treatment

At Byuazeu, they start with a foot bath before the pedicure! As I soaked my feet, the water seemed to get warmer and warmer over time, haha.

The September featured art I chose was a design with No. 59 magnetic nails as its accent!

They had such a wide range of magnetic-nail colors that I spent ages deciding 😭 I liked them all, which made choosing even harder, haha. I told them my two favorites, and they tested them for me right there! The look can differ between seeing a color with your eyes and seeing it actually applied, so it was reassuring and really nice to try them beforehand :)

Hanseul did my gel removal and pedicure! Her hands were seriously, seriously fast, haha. I think it took about 30 minutes from gel removal through to the pedicure. But it wasn’t rushed at all—she was thorough, which I liked even more!

Sitting for a long time gets quietly harder as you get older too 😂 A pedicure usually means setting aside at least 1–2 hours, so I loved that it was over so quickly 👍

I wore sandals so often over the summer that my feet had completely tanned into sandal shapes 🥹

Magnetic nails that got prettier the more I looked at them

Magnetic nails are trendy these days, right? At first I was like, “What even are magnetic nails?” But after trying them myself, I saw that the sparkle looks different depending on the angle. So fascinating 🫪

And I think they have this charm that gets prettier the more you look at them, haha. So I kept randomly taking photos at home, then at the swimming pool too lol. I found myself looking at them over and over without realizing it. Totally the kind of look that grows on you 🤎
