Ansan hair salon root color plan: Salon de Ire

I had a full color about a month and a half ago. I absolutely loved it then, but my roots shot right up in no time and started looking messyㅠㅠ Every time I looked in the mirror, all I could notice was the top of my head. It showed even more when I tied it up, and even more with a part... So today, I finally got my roots colored. I went to Salon de Ire (살롱드이레), a hair salon in Sadong, Ansan.

Salon de Ire location and parking

Salon de Ire is at Unit 101, 176-1 Seokho-ro, Sangnok-gu, Ansan, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea. It is closed every Monday, and parking is available beside the salon.

Honestly, it is really close to my house. I passed it all the time and kept thinking, “I should try that place sometime,” but I had nothing particular to do with my hair, so I kept putting it off. Today was finally my first visit haha.

The little yard with artificial grass out front makes it stand out even from a distance. The blue door is a nice focal point, so it was easy to find, and you can park beside the building. Since it is one-on-one by reservation, they said they always keep one parking spot open, so there is no need to worry about parking! Haha. It is also close to Sangnoksu Station and Bono-dong.

The moment I opened the door, it was so neat and tidy. The arched mirrors and crystal lights were pretty enough that I thought, “Is this really a neighborhood salon?” haha. This place runs by one-on-one reservation. So while I was there, it never got hectic from being mixed in with other clients. For a mom like me, who has a set amount of time after leaving the kids somewhere, that is quietly important. Being able to finish right on time, you know.

There were awards and trophies lined up on one shelf, and I found out the director had even served as a judge for an international body art contest. I thought, ah, this is not just an ordinary neighborhood salon..!

There is also a separate waiting area and shampoo room. The soft lighting in the shampoo room was so comfortable while I was lying down. The whole interior felt very upscale!

Color consultation before the root touch-up

✅ CHECK 2. “It’s only a root touch-up, but they consult on color this thoroughly?”

The director was so pleasant, and we chatted about this and that while the service went along in a comfortable atmosphere! My hair has reddish tones, so of course I was planning to say, “Please make the roots the same reddish color as my hair now~.”

But during the consultation, I told her my plan. “Later on, I want to change it to a light brown tone.” Then she told me, “If we put a reddish shade on the roots, it will be much harder to lift it lighter later. It would be better to go with a brown that is as close as possible to your current hair color.”

That surprised me a little. I thought all they had to do was match my current color, but she was choosing my root color now with the shade I want a few months from now in mind. Once red pigment goes in, it does not come out easily, and it can hold you back when you want to go lighter later. I had no idea about any of this..!! I was really grateful that she was thinking beyond what would look pretty today haha. So I went with the brown she recommended.

I really wanted to mention this part. Salon de Ire is not a place that uses cheap hair dye; it uses genuine Shiseido products. The menu even separates them out.

Of course, I chose Shiseido. And there is no length surcharge here. My hair is on the long side, but there was no additional charge!

They showed me everything, including taking out the product and weighing it. It was Shiseido Primience, and even the developer was genuine Shiseido. Those of you who color your hair often will know: even with the same shade, the color payoff and how your hair feels can be completely different depending on the product.

Honestly, after coloring my hair, I usually struggle with a stinging scalp and a harsh smell. But this time, that distinctive strong smell was not there, which was amazing! My scalp did not sting either. Since it was only the roots, it did not take too long, and the director personally handled everything from start to finish, so the crown area did not come out patchy 👍🏻

They also brought me a drink and snacks in the middle. There were several kinds of crackers, so it was surprisingly generous haha. This is the happiest time for a married woman like me—sitting alone and enjoying a little peace like this haha.

A result that blends naturally into the existing hair

✅ CHECK 4. “And the result? You cannot tell.”

To give you the result first: I am extremely satisfied. The biggest concern with a root touch-up is that there will be a visible line between the newly colored area and the existing hair, right? But it blended so naturally that I could not even tell where the new color started.

They even blow-dried it for me. The color did not look lifted or out of place; it settled down nicely, so even though only the crown had been tidied up, I somehow looked more put together? Once all that messiness was cleaned up, I felt refreshed too 😊

Salon de Ire is not the kind of place that simply does whatever you ask. They carefully consider both your current color and the color you want later on. They use genuine Shiseido color, and there is no length surcharge, either.
