Sharing special gomtang with a baby in Wangsimni: Geumnyeong Gomtang
In short
Geumnyeong Gomtang is a Korean beef bone soup (gomtang) restaurant a three-minute walk from Wangsimni Station Exit 1 in Seongdong, Seoul. Two adults and one baby ordered two special gomtang, and the owner brought one bowl with the green onions on the side without being asked, along with a baby chair and baby dishware. The broth at Geumnyeong Gomtang was clear and the beef so tender that the baby asked to come back the next day.

I found a real hidden gem in Wangsimni this time! It's Geumnyeong Gomtang, and the soup here is genuinely delicious. They say they use only the best grade Korean beef in a healthy but tasty broth, and I could really taste it haha. I'd also recommend it as a great spot to eat out with a baby in Wangsimni. The owner took such careful care of our baby that we could eat without any hassle haha. So here's my honest review of Geumnyeong Gomtang!

Where is Geumnyeong Gomtang and what are the hours?

This is the exterior of Geumnyeong Gomtang. It's set in what used to be a house! The sign is easy to spot at a glance.
Geumnyeong Gomtang says it uses only the highest grade Korean beef, 1+ and 1++. You can trust what you're eating. Also, the soup and rice aren't served separately — they use the toryeom method (pouring hot broth over rice repeatedly to warm it). Just so you know.
Here's the interior. There's seating on both the first and second floors.

We visited as two adults and one baby, and ordered two special gomtang.

Beef for the gomtang: domestic Korean beef!!! Beef for the boiled pork platter — also domestic Korean beef!!

This is proof they only use the highest grade Korean beef haha. It really is 1+ and 1++ only!!!
A clear gomtang simmered daily with the utmost care using top-grade beef shank and medicinal herbs!

Here are the diced radish kimchi (kkakdugi) and cabbage kimchi placed on every table. They're cut into easy-to-eat pieces. You know kimchi and kkakdugi are essential to a good soup and rice dish, right? The kimchi and kkakdugi here are seriously delicious haha.

Why Geumnyeong Gomtang works with a baby: baby chair and green onions on the side
At Geumnyeong Gomtang, the owner very kindly prepared a baby chair and baby dishware for us.

And what really impressed me was the owner's thoughtfulness — since we had to share with the baby, I was planning to ask for one of the two special gomtang to have the green onions on the side, but the owner put in that order before I even asked!! I was so impressed all over again!!!!

The other special gomtang came piled high with green onions haha.

For the baby, we scooped some into the baby dishware, blew on it to cool it down, and gave it to her — and she went 'mmm, yummy!' and ate so well~ She had plenty of broth, rice, and meat too! The meat was so tender it was really great for a baby to eat.

How does the special gomtang taste? Toryeom rice and rice cake slices
True to its top-grade Korean beef, the meat in the special gomtang at Geumnyeong Gomtang is really tender, with some chewy cuts too, and there's absolutely no off smell. Meat quality really matters in gomtang, and you could tell it was good meat because it was so delicious. There was also a ton of beef in it!!!!

At Geumnyeong Gomtang the rice comes already mixed into the soup via the toryeom method, and it's genuinely delicious...

Interestingly, there are also rice cake slices (tteokguk-tteok) inside haha.

Eating the rice together with the meat is like a tonic. The broth is really clear and refreshing! I love how clean the broth tastes!

The kimchi and kkakdugi here are so good that eating them together makes everything taste even better. The kimchi and kkakdugi were so delicious I ended up eating a ton of it lol.

The Wangsimni gomtang restaurant our baby wanted to visit again tomorrow
It was delicious for me too, but seeing the baby eat so happily made me feel even better~ I asked her if it was tasty, and she said
Yes! Let's come again tomorrow!
That's what she said~ It made me so proud haha. I highly recommend this restaurant for eating out with a baby in Wangsimni. The broth isn't an MSG-heavy taste but a healthy yet delicious one, and the meat is top-grade Korean beef, so it's perfect for feeding a baby.

We scraped the bowls clean down to the last bite and ate very well haha. You should all definitely visit once! If you're looking for a great gomtang restaurant in Wangsimni, or a spot to eat with a baby in Wangsimni, I strongly recommend Geumnyeong Gomtang!!!!
