Goseong pork galbi restaurant with room seats: Yongchon Gogi-jip
In short
Yongchon Gogi-jip is a pork galbi (grilled pork ribs) restaurant on Yongwon-ro in Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon, where the ribs are butterflied by hand in house. On a Monday weekday lunch booked in advance, three people sat at a reserved table partitioned off like a private room and shared 2 servings of seasoned pork galbi, 1 serving of unseasoned raw pork galbi, doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew), mul naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon (cold noodles). With portions weighed as pure meat, 250g per serving, and unusually tender raw galbi, Yongchon Gogi-jip is worth booking for group and family gatherings.

I recently went on a family trip to Sokcho and Goseong in Gangwon!
Let me give you my honest review of Yongchon Gogi-jip, a Goseong restaurant known for its hand-cut pork galbi!

Where is Yongchon Gogi-jip, and what are its hours?
[Yongchon Gogi-jip location] 20-3 Yongwon-ro, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon, South Korea [Hours] Mon, Tue, Thu 12:00-21:00 Fri, Sat, Sun 11:00-21:00 (15:00-17:00 break)

Yongchon Gogi-jip, a go-to spot for pork belly and pork galbi in Goseong, is located in Yongchon-ri, Toseong-myeon, Goseong-gun, Gangwon!

Is there a wait at Monday weekday lunch?
This place is known for having long waits on summer weekends because the pork galbi is so good... but we went on a weekday Monday lunch, and even though there were quite a few people, there was no wait!

Reserved room seats and parking for group gatherings
Since we reserved ahead, they set us up with a reserved table in the back. It's separated like a private room, so it's a really great Goseong restaurant for group visits ^^

There's also a spacious parking lot right in front, so no worries about parking! Perfect for anyone traveling to Sokcho or Goseong with family~

Side dishes, doenjang jjigae and the free gyeranjjim
The side dishes came out neat and tidy! Perilla leaves and green onion kimchi went really well with the meat, haha

Yongchon Gogi-jip's pork belly is good too, but it's especially known in Goseong, Gangwon for its hand-cut pork galbi!

You can choose between seasoned or raw pork galbi! For the first order, you can order 2+ servings of the same menu item~ We had 2 servings of seasoned pork galbi and 1 serving of raw pork galbi that day!

We ordered doenjang jjigae and rice first... wow, the doenjang jjigae was so savory and delicious, I was so hungry I almost ordered another bowl of rice while shoveling it down...

The complimentary steamed egg was also fluffy, hot, and delicious ^^
What makes hand-butterflied pork galbi different?
They said the pork galbi is made by carefully selecting first-grade meat and hand-cutting it to the optimal thickness! Aging pork galbi in a house sauce recipe while trimming away truckloads of meat...

Pork galbi made with that much care can't possibly taste bad, right? Haha The fact that it's top-grade domestic pork made me even more excited
You might think it's odd to go all the way to Sokcho or Goseong for a BBQ restaurant... but it's already gained word-of-mouth fame among Sokcho and Goseong locals, and it's won over tourists' taste buds too

They said customers never stop coming no matter when you visit~ It's a Goseong BBQ restaurant I'd always wanted to try, and I was so glad to finally get the chance ^^
There were definitely a lot of family customers, and it seemed like most people ordered the sweetish seasoned pork galbi and the raw pork galbi. Since it's a menu kids seem to enjoy too, I saw a lot of children dining with their parents

Two servings for three people: how big are the portions?
Unlike typical pork galbi places that pad the 250g with watery sauce and bone weight, they said they measure by pure meat weight
For some reason... even with 2 servings, the amount was substantial~ I almost asked if they'd accidentally given us 3 servings instead... honestly, this was the most generous pork galbi place I've ever been to
The three of us were already full just from 2 servings of pork galbi haha And since we also shared naengmyeon and rice that day, we ended up super stuffed

Maybe because it's grilled directly over quality charcoal, the meat was tender and delicious

Mul naengmyeon and bibim naengmyeon in regular size
I ordered the mul naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) as a regular dish rather than a dessert-style side, and sure enough, a regular-sized naengmyeon was generous and great! Good to share as a side

I ordered the bibim naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles), and they gave it a generous amount of broth! Exactly my style,, refreshing and so delicious~ Amazing paired with the meat!
Seasoned vs raw pork galbi: which to order next time
This was my first time trying raw pork galbi, so I wasn't sure what to expect... I figured pork galbi should still be seasoned, right?
But the table next to us ordered everything as raw pork galbi, which made me curious... wow, this is actually so delicious!! Next time I go, I'm ordering only raw pork galbi~

Nutty and clean-tasting, kind of like salt-grilled meat? You can taste the pork galbi's natural flavor even better, and it's so good haha

Dip it fully in salt and that's it, game over... the meat is truly tender and soft haha

I was thinking of ordering pork belly, but I'm glad I tried the raw pork galbi instead ^^

With great texture and flavor, this is pork galbi you never get tired of eating,, truly a certified must-visit spot in Sokcho and Goseong, Gangwon!!

It's also nice to grab a coffee and rest outside for a bit ^^ The spacious parking lot makes it perfect for group visits!
If you're planning a trip to Goseong or Sokcho in Gangwon, I highly recommend Yongchon Gogi-jip~~ haha
