Gangnam hair salon near Yeoksam Station: cut instead of perm at Owlly
In short
Owlly Yeoksam Branch (오울리 역삼점) is a hair salon on the second floor of a building right by Exit 1 of Yeoksam Station in Gangnam, Seoul, rebranded from Ehple Hair. The writer went in for a straight perm, but the designer advised against it because of hair damage, so only a women's cut was done — keeping the existing perm while adding layers and cutting in bangs. Prices were explained clearly from the start and the cut was shaped around how rarely the writer blow-dries, which made for a satisfying visit.

I went to the hair salon for a fall refresh! My bangs are currently grown out, and I heard there was a designer who gives really good consultations, so I wanted to ask if I could get bangs cut in. The salon I went to was Owlly Yeoksam.

Where is Owlly Yeoksam Branch, and is there parking?
Owlly Yeoksam Branch is easy to get to if you come out of Exit 1 of Yeoksam Station! There's parking space right in front of the salon. There might be times when it's not available, so I'd recommend calling ahead before you come.

I took the subway there! As soon as I looked up, I could see the Owlly sign on the 2nd floor. There's a big sign on the outside of the building, so even though it was my first visit, I found it without any trouble!

Apparently Ehple Hair has newly rebranded as Owlly!

Maybe because of that, when you take the elevator up, it still says Ehple Hair — don't worry, you haven't come to the wrong place, you can just go on in, haha.

Why the designer at Owlly talked me out of a straight perm
The designer who handled my consultation at Owlly Yeoksam Branch asked in detail about how I usually take care of my hair and what look I wanted. Instead of just doing whatever I asked for, she honestly explained what designs were actually possible given my current hair condition, which I really appreciated. When I asked if I could get bangs, she went for it boldly. (She's a T on MBTI, so that decision-making really helped, lol.)

I'd originally wanted a straight perm too, but after looking at my hair, she said a perm would cause a lot of damage, so we decided to skip the perm! So today I only got a cut!

Long, messy, frizzy hair. I really should have come to the salon a lot sooner — finally making it in now.

The shampoo room and seating at Owlly Yeoksam Branch
First up was the shampoo! The staff member who washed my hair scrubbed so satisfyingly, haha. She kept asking if there were any spots that weren't fully rinsed — a good, satisfying shampoo is honestly such an important part of a salon visit, isn't it? Haha. The shampoo room had a lot of chairs, so it looked like it could comfortably handle a lot of people at once.

There were plenty of chairs, of course. There seemed to be a lot of people getting perms!

Korean hair salon price: how much is a cut in Gangnam?
You can't ignore price these days when it comes to getting your hair done, and for Gangnam, I thought Owlly Yeoksam Branch's prices were reasonable. Pricing was also laid out transparently from the very start, so it was easy to check the estimated cost before the service. Sometimes at salons the price ends up bigger than expected once extras get added, but here they explained the needed services and prices upfront during the consultation. It's really a Gangnam salon, yet the cut price wasn't burdensome, so it seems like a place I could keep coming back to regularly. (Satisfied with both the price and the result!)

For anyone thinking of becoming a regular, I'd recommend checking out the price list below too!

The designer, cutting away diligently. Thank you, thank you...

The finished cut: bangs and layers on damaged, permed hair
And here's the result! Drumroll...

It wouldn't be an exaggeration if someone thought I'd gotten a perm — she cut with my hair condition in mind and really brought out the perm I already had! Everything that felt heavy overall got tidied up and it's so much lighter now... (the layers were added so naturally, I loved that.) The bangs were cut in without being too much, and my face shape looks a bit softer now! I'm satisfied since it seems like it'll be easy to style at home, too. Best of all, when I mentioned I don't blow-dry my hair much, she took that into account when cutting, lol.

I didn't have any plans that afternoon, but since I'd come in expecting a perm, she said she had time and curled my hair anyway... and it looked so good that I ended up making plans, haha. A total success for fall 🤗🤗
