Guryongpo seafood restaurant with free parking: Hoetjip Jin takeout
In short
Hoetjip Jin is a raw fish and seafood restaurant on Homi-ro, right across from Guryongpo Market in Pohang. The writer parked free at the lot across the street from Hoetjip Jin, ordered the Assorted Sashimi Platter B (serves 3–4) for takeout, and filled the 20-minute wait shopping at Guryongpo Sikjae Mart, a 3-minute walk away. Vegetables, four sauces, chopsticks and an ice pack come packed in, so the sashimi travels back to your accommodation still fresh.

When I think of a raw fish spot near Guryongpo Market in Pohang, the first place that comes to mind now is 'Hoetjip Jin'! I used to walk deep into the market to pack sashimi, but ever since I tried Hoetjip Jin, I've only been going there. I even recommend it to friends heading to Pohang — it's genuinely my go-to place :) Here's my review!
Where is Hoetjip Jin near Guryongpo Market in Pohang?
Hoetjip Jin is a raw fish and seafood restaurant on Homi-ro in Guryongpo-eup, Nam-gu, Pohang. It's right in front of Guryongpo Market, so it's a great spot to stop by and grab takeout sashimi while browsing the market.

Is parking at Hoetjip Jin free?
The parking lot across from Hoetjip Jin is entirely free to use. If you park in a spot close to the restaurant, it's just a 1-minute walk.

There's a parking lot that's convenient for anyone dining in or picking up takeout! The lot across from the restaurant is entirely free, so there's no cost to worry about :) Park close to the restaurant and it's just a 1-minute walk away!
What Hoetjip Jin looks like inside and out
Hoetjip Jin has a large sign, so it's easy to spot as you pass by on Homi-ro. There's also a note on the window that says 'You are currently passing a Guryongpo must-eat restaurant.'

Since I've visited so many times, the exterior feels super familiar to me now haha

The sign is huge, and with the window note about passing a Guryongpo must-eat restaurant, when you walk by you just think, ah, this is the place! Looking at the exterior, you could really feel that the owner takes pride in the food.

Even on a weekday afternoon, there were quite a few customers dining inside! It seems like there are always dine-in guests whenever I come. The interior is also kept nice and clean, so it's a good place to eat in too!

There's also a restroom further inside! As befits a Guryongpo must-eat spot, it's appeared on several TV broadcasts, and photos and autographs from celebrities, athletes, and food lovers who've visited cover the walls. It kind of makes you trust the place even more, haha.
Hoetjip Jin menu and takeout price board
Besides raw fish, Hoetjip Jin has a wide range of dishes including mulhoe (cold raw fish soup), hoedeopbap (raw fish rice bowl), snow crab, red crab, king crab, giant amberjack, and gwamegi (dried herring). If you say you want takeout, they give you a separate takeout menu.

Beyond raw fish, there's mulhoe, hoedeopbap, snow crab, red crab, king crab, giant amberjack, gwamegi, and more delicious options. There are also side dishes like red crab ramen and snow crab ramen, plus a kids' menu — I definitely want to eat inside the restaurant next time!

If you mention you're doing takeout, they hand you a separate takeout menu! The prices are pretty great too, right?✨ When traveling, eating tasty food at a good price just makes the whole trip feel better. Abalone and oysters are also available for takeout, so there's a wide range to choose from :) I definitely want to try gwamegi when I come back in winter haha.
What to do during the 20-minute takeout wait at Hoetjip Jin
At Hoetjip Jin, it takes about 20 minutes from ordering to when the food is ready. I use that time to shop at Guryongpo Sikjae Mart, a 3-minute walk away.

It takes about 20 minutes after ordering for the food to come out! Before that, I always go to the nearby mart to buy anything I need — time passes quickly and I get my shopping done, so it's a good way to spend the wait. Just so you know :) Guryongpo Sikjae Mart is about a 3-minute walk!

Another thing I love about Hoetjip Jin is how neatly they pack everything! They include vegetables, sauces, and chopsticks so carefully that it's both hygienic and looks great too.
Assorted Sashimi Platter B (serves 3–4): what's on it and how it tastes
This time, the Assorted Sashimi Platter B I packed serves 3–4 people and includes flounder, rockfish, sea bream, and fin. The pieces were cut thick, giving a chewy, satisfying texture.

I first started coming here because a takeout sashimi photo I saw in a review looked so clean and delicious! It's always set up with such an appetizing look, and I love that :)

It's a set with flounder, rockfish, sea bream, and even fin. Only the good stuff is gathered here. I tend to prefer sashimi cut a bit thick, so this suited me well. It's chewy with great texture — top-notch.✨

They give you 4 kinds of sauces — soy sauce, wasabi, chojang, and ssamjang — so you can eat it however suits your taste! And you don't even need to buy sauce separately.☺️

They even pack an ice pack so it stays fresh the whole way! I love the fin part, so I especially appreciate a place that includes it, haha. I've only ever visited in summer and always get the assorted platter, but I can't wait to come back in winter and enjoy gwamegi and giant amberjack :)
That wraps up my review of Hoetjip Jin, my go-to spot at Guryongpo Market in Pohang! It's the kind of taste anyone would enjoy, so if you visit Pohang, I hope you'll definitely try the sashimi here :)
