I went to Jugeokjip today, a spot I recommend as a Songtan restaurant near the branch office :) They're currently running an unlimited soju event, and maybe because of that there were SO many customers! It's a hot BBQ spot in Songtan right now :) The restaurant is a standalone building with parking available beside and behind it!

What Jugeokjip feels like on a weekend evening

On a weekend evening, Jugeokjip was almost fully booked, but the space is large with plenty of tables, so it didn't feel cramped. The ventilation was good too, so it didn't smell too strongly of grilled meat, which I loved!

You can enjoy unlimited soju by type! Isn't that amazing?!?! Drink prices have gone up so much lately, and here soju is unlimited... For anyone who loves drinking, this place is totally worth it, haha.

What's on the menu at Jugeokjip

Jugeokjip, a Songtan restaurant, really has a diverse menu! First off, from the signature jugeoksal to udae-galbi, they have it all.

So-saeng galbisal / yangnyeom galbisal / nunkkotsal

They also have a variety of meal menu items ready, like naengmyeon (cold noodles), yukhoe (raw beef tartare), and jjigae (stew)! With everything from grilled meat to full meals, this place is great for visiting with a group :)

The side dishes and a full bowl of spicy marinated crab

Jugeokjip's basic side dishes really had so many kinds—sundubu, cabbage, pancake, dubu-kimchi, scallion shreds, coleslaw, cucumber, pickles, japchae and more. The table was set out generously even before the meat arrived.

The small plates were also clean and looked upscale :)

Usually seasoned marinated crab comes as one or two pieces, but Jugeokjip in Songtan brings it out in a whole bowl, so the portion is huge, hahaha. With banchan already this generous, I was satisfied even before the meat came out!

What's at Jugeokjip's self-bar

Jugeokjip's self-bar was kept impressively clean overall! There was also a huge variety of vegetables that go well grilled alongside the meat, like eggplant, zucchini, and mushrooms!

You can freely help yourself to japchae, tteokbokki, cream soup, and more at the self-bar! It's not just about the meat—having fun picking and choosing extra things to eat made it even better :)

How is the charcoal-grilled fresh pork belly?

We first ordered the charcoal-grilled pork belly! The meat was really thick, and freshness was obvious just looking at it~~ The ratio of lean meat to fat was perfect too, so it looked delicious even before grilling!

You just place it on the grill and cook it. The ventilation fan is right above the table, so the smoke clears fast and the meat smell doesn't cling too much to your clothes or body—loved that!

Once the meat is nicely browned, you just cut it into bite-sized pieces. Being grilled over charcoal, it had a subtle smoky aroma that made it look even more delicious!

The meat is seriously delicious~~ Absolutely the best!!!! It's thick enough that you really feel the chew, and with the charcoal aroma added, my chopsticks kept going back for more, haha.

There were also so many sauces to pair with it, so you could pick according to your taste :) Even with the same meat, it's nice to enjoy different flavors depending on which sauce you dip it in!

The doenjang-jjigae (soybean paste stew) was seriously so good... Really delicious, the best..! You can't skip doenjang-jjigae when eating meat, right, haha. It had a rich, savory flavor that paired really well with the meat!

Since soju is unlimited... it can't be left out, haha. A bite of meat and a shot of soju—that combo speaks for itself~~!

What does jugeoksal, the special cut, taste like?

After enjoying the pork belly, we ordered jugeoksal too! Jugeoksal is a special cut, apparently only one piece can be taken from between the rib bones :)

After grilling and trying it, the slightly chewy, springy texture when biting into it was seriously the best! It was savory with a real meaty aroma, and the flavor itself was clean, so it even gave a bit of a beef-eating feel. It has its own charm, different from pork belly, so personally I really enjoyed it :)

Bibim-naengmyeon, mul-naengmyeon and free ice cream

We also ordered bibim-naengmyeon (spicy mixed cold noodles) and it was seriously delicious! The seasoning sauce especially was so good, and it paired perfectly with the meat, hahaha.

And then mul-naengmyeon (cold noodle soup) too~~ After eating meat, taking a bite of the cool broth noodles felt like it cleaned out my whole mouth! Both the bibim and mul versions have their own charm, so I enjoyed both :)

And that's not all! They also have corn and marshmallows ready, and grilling them yourself is seriously so good!!!!!! After the meat, finishing with sweet marshmallows was the perfect dessert, haha.

You even get to have free ice cream, which was seriously great, hahahaha.

Is Jugeokjip worth booking for a Songtan group dinner?

From the meat to the variety of self-bar items, cold noodles, and dessert, I left Jugeokjip completely full! With the unlimited soju event running too, this is a place where anyone who likes meat and drinks can really get great value :) I understood why it's so busy on weekend evenings, haha.

The thick charcoal-grilled pork belly was delicious, but the special cut jugeoksal, chewy and savory, was personally really satisfying too! With so much to eat at the self-bar and even free ice cream at the end, I left feeling fully fed from start to finish :)
