Pyeongtaek cockle restaurant with tofu kimchi refills: Kkomak Manse

James and I both love cockles, so I looked for a good cockle spot near home but couldn't find one 🥹 That's how I discovered Kkomak Manse Pyeongtaek Manse-ro Main Branch in Jukbaek-dong, Pyeongtaek. Apparently it's the only fresh cockle specialist in Pyeongtaek, so curious about it, James and I headed over on a Saturday 😊

Kkomak Manse Pyeongtaek Manse-ro Main Branch is at 1728 Manse-ro, 1st floor, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do. There's a private lot right in front, so parking was easy.

Is there a wait at 1:30pm on a Saturday?

We visited this Sosabeol favorite, Kkomak Manse Pyeongtaek Manse-ro Main Branch, around 1:30pm on a Saturday and got seated with no wait at all!

There were a lot of other diners when we visited, so I only took photos of the empty tables. Lots of families and groups of friends were there too.

Restrooms, the self-bar and free rice at Kkomak Manse

The restrooms at this Sosabeol favorite are inside the restaurant, separated by gender, and kept really clean.

Disposable aprons and baby spoons were ready, along with scissors, sanitary gloves, sesame oil, and soy sauce set aside separately. Anyone who needs them can just grab and use!

You can take as much of the self-bar side dishes as you need. It was also nice that rice is provided for free 😊 Just take as much as you'll eat — but please only take what you'll finish so nothing goes to waste!

What's on the menu at Kkomak Manse

This Sosabeol favorite, Kkomak Manse Pyeongtaek Manse-ro Main Branch, apparently hand-cleans fresh cockles year-round. Knowing it uses fresh cockles made me even more excited before eating 😋

This Jukbaek-dong favorite has more than just set menus — Boseong Manse Seasoned Cockles, cockle-vinegar salad, cockle pancake, soy sauce cockle bibimbap, red cockle bibimbap, and more. They also had dongdongju (rice wine), soju by the glass, soju, beer, and soft drinks 🍺

Takeout is also available 🛍️

Looking at the staff call button, you could separately request refills of laver and tofu kimchi!

What comes in the 52,000 won Family Set for two, plus side dishes

We ordered the Family Set (2 people). It comes with Manse Seasoned Cockles (medium), cockle pancake 3P, and one cockle bibimbap, and you can choose between soy sauce cockle bibimbap and red cockle bibimbap.

Side dishes like laver, perilla leaves, and tofu kimchi came out — great pairings for cockles. Every single side dish was delicious, but the tofu kimchi was especially good, so we even got a refill 😋

The fish cake soup comes standard and it was tasty! Perfect to sip between bites 😋

The Family Set (2 people) for ₩52,000 finally arrived!

Cockle pancake, 3 pieces

I expected the cockle pancakes to be small, but they were way bigger than I thought!

I dipped them in the soy-onion sauce that came with it, ate them with the marinated garlic stems, and also tried them with the stir-fried kimchi from the tofu kimchi dish. Biting into cockles here and there while mixing it up with different sides was delicious 😋

Red cockle bibimbap

For the bibimbap I chose the red cockle version. Perilla leaves, laver flakes, flying fish roe, bean sprouts, and cockles were piled so high you couldn't even see the rice underneath 😋

Mixed it up thoroughly 🥄

It's already delicious as is, but wrapping it in laver and perilla leaf made it even better 👍🏻

Manse seasoned cockles, medium size

The Manse Seasoned Cockles (medium) came with flying fish roe, and I was surprised by how many cockles were actually in it 😲

Wrapping the flying fish roe and cockles in laver and perilla leaf was so good 😋 But wrapping it with rice made it even better 👍🏻 Definitely eat it together with rice!

✨Jju's final verdict✨ James and I both love cockles, so we were really satisfied 👍🏻 Even though we drove over an hour, I felt like it was worth coming all that way! From the cockle pancake to the cockle bibimbap to the Manse Seasoned Cockles, every single menu item was loaded with cockles, and every side dish was delicious too, which made the meal even better!

We were so happy with it that I plan to come back whenever I'm craving cockles 😋 If you love cockles, or you're looking for a great restaurant in Pyeongtaek's Sosabeol or Jukbaek-dong area, I highly recommend Kkomak Manse Pyeongtaek Manse-ro Main Branch!
