Songtan BBQ restaurant with cheaper second orders: Jugeokjip

Hi, this is Tojjil! I went back to a Songtan restaurant in Pyeongtaek that I keep returning to for its distinctive flavor — Jugeokjip (주걱집). The charcoal-grilled meat here is delicious, but honestly the unlimited free soju is a huge draw too. I can't think of a better spot for a work dinner. Here's my review of Jugeokjip in Pyeongtaek.

Parking and what Jugeokjip looks like inside

There's a parking lot right next to Jugeokjip. The address is 35 Jisan1-ro 70beon-gil, 1F, Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi-do.

This Songtan Jugeokjip in Pyeongtaek can seat large groups! It seems perfect for gatherings and work dinners, and there are private rooms so you can enjoy your meal without other groups around. Dogs are welcome and there are baby chairs too, so it seems like an easy place to visit no matter who you're with.

For extra side dishes, there's a self-bar you can use.

The side dish spread and doenjang jjigae (soybean paste stew)

The table was neatly set with a full spread. There were so many side dishes, and each one was really tasty. This seems like a good place to visit when you're craving home-style cooking or a hearty meal.

The doenjang jjigae had such a rich broth that it was great mixed with a bowl of rice as a drinking meal (sulbap)! If you're having a drink, you have to try this.

Signature jugeoksal: pork that eats like tender beef

We ordered the signature jugeoksal and pork belly. The pork belly is fresh, chilled, unfrozen pork belly, so it's nice and fresh.

Jugeoksal isn't even beef, but it was as tender and juicy as beef. There's a reason it's the signature menu. The first time I visited Jugeokjip and tried jugeoksal, I fell in love with the flavor — and eating it again, it was just as good. It's the kind of taste that makes you want to come back.

Thick charcoal-grilled fresh pork belly with wasabi and salt

If you love thick-cut pork belly, Jugeokjip is worth a visit. The pork belly was so thick that it was full of juice, and the more I ate it, the cleaner it tasted. It wasn't greasy at all, so I kept reaching for more. Even though it's grilled over charcoal, it doesn't burn easily, so it's fine even if you're not great at grilling.

Jugeokjip's pork belly was delicious whether topped with wasabi or lightly dipped in salt.

Why second orders cost less, plus free coffee and ice cream

The meat was so good that we reordered the pork belly. At Jugeokjip, the first order and reorder prices are different — reorders are a bit cheaper. Since soju is unlimited, you need something to snack on while drinking, right? If your side dish runs low, it seems easy to order more without worrying about the cost. I enjoyed my soju that day too.

For dessert, there's coffee and ice cream, and there were quite a few flavors of ice cream to choose from! With unlimited soju, this seems like a great spot to visit as a group or whenever you want to drink comfortably. That was my review of Jugeokjip, a Songtan restaurant in Pyeongtaek.
