Korean BBQ near Unjeong Lake in Paju: owner's pick pork neck, Tannae
In short
Tannae Paju Main Branch is a briquette-grill Korean BBQ restaurant on Garam-ro near Unjeong Lake in Paju, Gyeonggi. After stopping by a nearby listening café, the writer came for dinner and ordered two servings of pork neck, two of pork belly and steamed egg, and the pork neck the owner recommended, pre-grilled over briquettes before it reached the table, beat the pork belly. For a pork neck dinner or a group meal around Unjeong, Tannae Paju Main Branch is worth the trip.

Tannae Paju Main Branch: a briquette-grill BBQ restaurant near Unjeong Lake
Tannae Paju Main Branch is a BBQ restaurant near Unjeong Lake in Paju, open 16:00–23:00 (last order 22:00). I'd stopped by a café in Paju I'd really wanted to visit that day, and while searching for a good BBQ place nearby, I found this spot called Tannae near Unjeong Lake.

With the weather nice and cool, they had the front of the restaurant open, and set up outdoor tables outside giving it a street-food-stall kind of vibe. We went in the evening, and it was packed.
What we ordered at Tannae Paju Main Branch
Here's the menu, and here's what we ordered from it.

- Pork belly (2 servings)
- Steamed egg

Side dishes, steamed egg and doenjang stew at Tannae Paju
Tannae Paju Main Branch's side dishes come out clean and simple. The dressed lettuce salad was delicious.

And here's the steamed egg we ordered —

They said we could choose between kimchi stew and doenjang (soybean paste) stew, and here's the doenjang stew we picked —

The owner's pick: pork neck pre-grilled over briquettes
We'd actually planned to eat pork belly, but the owner recommended the pork neck saying it was delicious, so we ordered two servings of that first! It came thick-cut but pre-grilled almost all the way through, so we only had to finish it off a little over the charcoal fire and could eat it right away, haha.
That said, since we're used to eating meat leisurely off a regular grill pan, cooking over charcoal took some getting used to — the meat cooks fast and the outside can burn easily! Just watch out for that and it's even better.

I love garlic, haha, and personally the garlic sauce on the right was delicious.

Two servings of pork belly and the pre-grilling station
Next up, two servings of pork belly. We can really put it away, can't we?

This is where the owner was pre-grilling the meat inside the restaurant.

Why the pork neck is the order to get at Tannae Paju Main Branch
The weather was nice that day, and eating charcoal-grilled meat comfortably in a clean, spacious BBQ restaurant just made for a great, satisfying meal. The pork neck was our favorite by far! Out of everything, that's what I'd recommend.
I heard it's a well-known spot near Unjeong Lake — if you're looking for a pork neck restaurant in that area, I'd recommend Tannae. It would also make a good group dinner spot in Unjeong!
