A Gwangbok-dong sushi stop along the shopping route
While shopping, I wanted a simple sushi meal, so I visited Moshi Moshi Sushi Lotte Department Store Gwangbok (모시모시 스시 롯데백화점 광복점). Located on the 10th floor of the department store, it was an easy, natural stop along the shopping route.

It is also known for reasonably priced sushi sets, so my expectations immediately went way up.

What is the atmosphere inside like?
When I opened the door and stepped in, the restaurant was clean and neatly arranged.

From the table, I could watch the sushi being made right in front of me, which was fun in itself. The atmosphere worked well for everything from dining alone to family gatherings.

How should you choose a set?
Looking at the menu, there was a wide range of set options. There were choices such as Sushi Hansang, Assorted Sushi A, and Assorted Sushi B, so you could pick according to your preferences and party size.

The sushi and sides in Set 4
First, Set 4 arrived, neatly arranged across a full table. It came with salad and jang-guk (clear soup), so it felt like a satisfying complete meal rather than sushi served on its own.

The jang-guk was mild and clean-tasting, making it perfect for refreshing my palate between pieces of sushi.

The selection was generously packed with many kinds of sushi, including salmon and eel.

Watching the chef make it to order made the freshness feel even more noticeable.

The yukhoe sushi, topped with Korean-style seasoned raw beef, looked absolutely fantastic.

The eel sushi had a sweet-savory seasoned sauce that went beautifully with the tender eel, with a deeper flavor the more I chewed. The raw shrimp sushi had a pleasantly chewy texture and a subtle savory richness that kept me reaching for more.

The salmon sushi had thick slices of salmon with a lovely grain that melted gently in my mouth, satisfying from the first bite. The shrimp sushi had a lively, springy texture that made it fun to chew. The portions were generous too, so each bite had a real presence.

Shrimp tempura came with the sushi as well. With a crisp exterior and a whole, springy shrimp inside, even one piece was satisfying. A light dip in the sauce doubled its nutty flavor.

It even came with udon, so one set offered a variety of flavors. The warm udon broth was subtly refreshing and clean, just right between bites of sushi and tempura. The chewy noodles went down so easily that I ended up finishing every drop of the broth too.

The selection and texture of Assorted Sushi A
Next, Assorted Sushi A arrived as well. It held an even mix of white-fleshed fish and red-fleshed fish sushi, making it a treat for the eyes first.

Every piece of fish was fresh, with a springy texture in every bite.

Assorted Sushi A was great value too. It was exactly the right kind of selection for trying a range of sushi.

Having Set 4 and Assorted Sushi A together also made it fun to compare the two selections.

Final thoughts on having Set 4 and Assorted Sushi A together
After a filling, satisfying meal at Moshi Moshi Sushi Lotte Department Store Gwangbok, I could see why it is known as a good sushi spot in Gwangbok-dong. The neat table setting and fresh sushi, plus the convenience of enjoying it alongside department-store shopping, made it a place I would want to return to.
